The House Appropriations Subcommittee for the
Department of Community Health last week
completed its version of the Fiscal Year
2009-10 budget, and included restoration of
funding for the 0-3 Secondary Prevention and
Nurse-Family Partnership programs -- two
programs proven to help keep children and
families intact, safe and healthy.
Funding for the programs had been eliminated
in Gov. Jennifer Granholm's budget proposal.
The subcommittee also restored Healthy
Michigan Fund dollars for the Governor's
Fitness Council and related physical fitness
initiatives, AIDS and risk reduction
clearinghouse and media campaign, family
planning and pregnancy prevention services,
and poison control programs, for mental
health multi-cultural services, and respite
services for children with severe emotional
disturbances and their families among other
programs.

recommendations in the March 27 Budget
Basics report.
