Greetings , Film Festival Results The Brilliant Light International Film Festival was very encouraging. I would describe it as a "friends and family film festival." That is, most of the audience for any film was composed of the folks the filmmakers knew. There didn't seem to be many people who just came to watch all of the films. Our film looked pretty good in this respect. We might have had the largest crowds of any of the films. Afterward, we had great conversations with the festival director and some other people who saw our film. They really liked Yai Wanonabälewä: The Enemy God and were really engaged as they processed the message of film through their own spiritual experiences. The festival director was very enthusiastic about our film, telling folks how great our film is, so that was encouraging. A Matter of Concern One of the great influences on Bautista's (Shake in the film) life is a man named Joe (Pepiwa in the film). Joe is now 88 years old and still lives in Bautista's village. Lately Joe's health has been in decline to the point they are worried they might loose him. The people of the village have been caring for him and praying for him. Millie, his wife, says Joe is ready to go Home.
Millie gives us this update:
I just wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and to let you know that Joe is responding to treatment and this evening is much better. He had 2 bags of IV solution today and perked up considerably in late afternoon. He is still having a hard time eating and drinking so continue to pray that he will get his appetite back and be able to eat and drink more normally.
Finally - Finishing the Film The third week in May will see several of the production crew members at Technicolor in Toronto, Canada to put the finishing touches on Yai Wanonabälewä: The Enemy God film! It's been a long haul and we're glad to finally be at this point in the filmmaking process. We will work on such things as color correction, a surround sound mix and outputting the film to high definition video. When these are done, we can finally say that the film is officially completed!
