The Enemy God (Yai Wana Naba Laywa) Film Project
Prayer and News Update

-- Prayer Requests
Greetings! We are halfway through the shooting schedule! We passed that milestone this week. There is a long way to go, but it is nice to mark some progress. All of the scenes that take place in what we call the "new village" are complete. We have moved into the days were we are filming mostly "old village" scenes. For the most part, those are scenes that take place in the 1950s and 60s, so the actors dress in traditional style and we are filming in our traditional shabano village sets. Thank you for joining with us, Tom Khazoyan –– Executive Producer, The Enemy God (Yai Wana Naba Laywa) film |

Yanomamö via Kekchi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I mentioned in our last update, one of the
special things about this project is seeing a
bridge being built between the Yanomamö and
Kekchi people. We still have not been able to
have many of our Yanomamö partners come to
the set, but it has been a great experience
to see the Kekchi actors take on personas and
live out stories of another indigenous people.
One interesting challenge has been how to encourage the Kekchi, who are normally very reserved, quiet people, to act more Yanomamö - that is, much more outwardly expressive. Hot-tempered is one way to describe the Yanomamö (they would agree wholeheartedly!) In the final analysis, you could probably call the film a hybrid of cultures. We are not trying to make yet another documentary about the Yanomamö, but to faithfully help them tell their story. It has been interesting to see Timoteo and our other cultural advisors work out what is really important to communicate and show about Yanomamö life and their special personality as a people.

Prayer Requests ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
? Please continue to pray for our actors.
Every day we have a mix of those who have
worked with us on previous days and
newcomers. A movie set is a bizarre place for
normal people - lots of rushing around,
waiting around, repeating the same thing over
and over again. Pray for grace and patience
on our part and on the part of our actors.
? Pray for safety and health. Our film sets are not really controlled environments; we are still in the jungle. People get sunburned, bug-bit and hopefully not much more than that. The work days are long and tiring for the crew so pray for good rest and rejuvenation when they are not working. ? Pray for Christopher, our Director, as he guides our actors and crew through the creative challenges of telling this story. Flexibility and creativity are essential for overcoming all of the various surprises and hurdles that show up day-to-day. A big burden rests on Christopher's shoulders. God is blessing the work and we'd just ask that you pray for Christopher specifically today.
