Greetings!

In my last update, I used the analogy of a jousting match between two knights to describe the feeling we have making this film. We have periods of intense challenge or conflict and then we have a moments rest before the next round.

The past week has exemplified that perfectly. I have marvelled at how production plans have come together; we have a revised shooting schedule that looks really good, our crew and actors are excited, and it feels like the last hurdles are going to be overcome - after more than four years of work!

At the same time, we experience discouragement – whether it is in our struggle to bring our Yanomamö partners out of their homeland to be with us, or logistical challenges with all of the un-glamorous side of filmmaking – budgets and business stuff.

I can only suppose that it is part of God's intention that we remain dependent on him and not on our own skills or schemes. We certainly are feeling very much out of control of much of this project, even as much as we try to tie up loose ends. Ultimately, making this film is a matter of the heart, with many hearts coming together to share a story that will touch hearts far beyond where the Yanomamö live. That's what they desire. So we will keep on pushing and resting at the same time.

Thank you for joining with us,

Tom Khazoyan –– Executive Producer, The Enemy God (Yai Wana Naba Laywa) film

"Hot" in his house Our first group of crew members arrived Monday in Punta Gorda. Matt, our Producer, and his family are moving down for the duration of the filming. They spent 10 years serving the people of Belize through the building of a training center, so they know the people and area well. As a matter of fact, the center that they helped to start is one of the facilities we are using as part of the film production. We held our first actors' school there last month.

They will spend the next couple of weeks setting up our production offices, housing for crew, and connecting with local partners, crew, and actors. Communication is always a bit of a challenge down there because folks are scattered throughout the district. Many of our key people live in villages without telephones or regular transportation services, so it is kind of a jigsaw puzzle to figure out how best to get information to them and stay connected.

The next few weeks will be a key time to renew relationships and establish our schedules. We have several cultures coming together to collaborate on the project, so we need to be aware of and respond to how each group and each person works best, how to maintain trust, and how to move forward toward a common goal.

Yanomamö family in shabano ? I spoke a couple of nights ago with our partners in Venezuela. There has been little progress on the documents we have been trying to get for our Yanomamö partners to enable them to participate with us in Belize. The only way in and out of the jungle for them is by plane or a very long and dangerous boat ride. The plane hasn't been flying, so they have been stuck and are somewhat discouraged. Please pray for progress in this next week. Time is very short if they are going to be able to be with us at the start of filming.

? Pray for our crew as they travel to Belize over the next couple of weeks (including myself). This is the beginning of a long haul for them, living in a foreign country, working on a very intense project. Pray for health, safety, peace for their families back home, and for a great synergy as they come together for the firs time as a film crew.

? Pray for our Kekchi actors and crew. They have a tremendously important part in the success of the film. We can take great pictures, but they need to find the characters and performances from within themselves. That is hard for anyone to do. Pray for God's encouragement and blessing on them as they learn and give their best.
