And my God will supply every need ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some of you have been praying with us for
a couple of years now. During that time, we have had our
ups and downs. In the midst of setbacks in
Venezuela, changes in plans, and uncertainty, we
have not ever wavered in our understanding of what God
wants to do through the story of the Yanomamö.
However, we certainly did feel our own inadequacy to
accomplish the task. To be sure, in some tasks, I
feel like I am experienced, qualified, etc. But in
this whole thing, God has kept us humble before Him.
As you also know, for the past number of years, we have been praying for God’s complete financial provision for The Enemy God film project. This was the week that God, in His divine wisdom, chose to answer all our prayers. On Tuesday we met with some donors who have been financially involved with this project from the beginning. Their vision for this film and how God might use it, fits exactly with ours. They have committed to fund the rest of the film!! Wow, talk about rejoicing! God is good! We were surprised how God, in one fell swoop, met this need. In fact, we’ve been in a fund-raising mode for so long, that switching to a “lets make the movie” mindset, has been somewhat of an adjustment.

Moving Forward ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our questions now turn to issues like where we are
finally going to make the movie? When we last
wrote, Matt and I were on our way to Ecuador and
Belize to scout out new locations for
the film. In both countries, we have great contacts
and we were very sure we would find options that
could help us take the film forward if VZ
remained closed.
Our trip to Ecuador and Belize clarified the option of the possibility of making the film in a location other than Venezuela. Its completion would be entirely possible in either country. Because of better logistics in Belize, it would be our first choice. However, since our return, the possibility of shooting it in Venezuela has once again become a very real possibility. In conversations about the project, the General who is in charge of Amazonas province has said that he will give his approval to make the film in Cosh, provided we can prove that our intention is to benefit the village. Of course, we are approaching this with our eyes wide open. We know that things change rapidly and in unexpected ways in the jungle. But we also feel that this is an answer to our prayers for the last year to get some sort of access to Cosh once again. Since our Yanomamö partners are there, the film's sets are done, and other pieces are in place in the village of Cosh, we are prayerfully considering which location God will direct us to. PLEASE continue to pray with us concerning a film location. To better discern God’s leading, our plan is to make a trip to Venezuela, June 5-16th. If the doors are open, we will plan for the movie to be filmed there in Cosh. If we sense God closing doors, we will talk with our Yanomamö Christian brothers as well as the missionaries and, make plans for the film to be shot in Belize. If we end up in Venezuela, tentative plans would be to shoot the film this Fall. If we end up shooting in Belize instead, we’d plan to shoot early in 2007. Switching to Belize would necessitate recasting actors for the film, setting up logistical support, and film set construction.

Prayer Requests ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
? First, praise the Lord with us for His financial
provision for the film.
? Please pray for discernment about a final location for filming. We need to understand what God is saying to us by opening up this dialogue with The General in Amazonas. Is this an open door for filming or just one more opportunity to get into Cosh to finish up some loose ends and say goodbye as part of our exit from the country? ? Please pray for us as we "shift gears" with our crew and revive production activities that have been on hold for exactly one year. We need to bring together a plan that will see the completion of a film that will be of such quality and power that it has a transforming impact on the lives of viewers. God's grace and power are the only things that can accomplish that.
