Greetings!

HOLDING OUR WORLD IN PRAYER: WISCONSIN and OKLAHOMA
As we continue to remember in prayer those who lost loved ones and friends in the recent shooting violence in Aurora, we hold our brothers and sisters in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, in our hearts as they are filled with our same sorrow after the shootings at the Sikh Temple on Sunday morning. That a place of worship was the site of such horror is especially troublesome, and we continue to proclaim the mutual respect we hold for people of all faiths and traditions.
We also pray for all those in Oklahoma who have been devastated by wildfires. One fire near Oklahoma City has burned more than 50 structures, but fortunately no deaths have been reported.
May God's grace sustain those for whom we pray.

OUR LIFE TOGETHER | Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost
Gracious God, your blessed Son came down from heaven to be the true bread that gives life to the world. Give us this bread always, that he may live in us and we in him and that, strengthened by this food, we may live as his body in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp has the opportunity of a lifetime! The camp is on leased Federal land and has been since its inception. They now have the opportunity to purchase non-federal land that the forest service wants and then exchange it with the forest service to own their site!
But there is a catch. They will need to raise approximately $350,000 by December 7, 2012 to secure this non-federal land. So they need your help. Already, over $120,000 has been raised but they need your help to keep the momentum going to reach their goal.

Lutherans Stoked Their Flames to Benefit Fire Victims
On Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., in true western style, local Lutherans and members of the Dutch Oven Group joined forces with Ascension Lutheran Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming to provide relief for the victims of the recent wild fires in Wyoming and Colorado.
The Cheyenne Dutch Oven Group cooked and also demonstrated the fine art of Dutch Oven Cooking, and served up some seriously good grub at the first "Douse the Flames" fundraiser that provided the community with food, faith and fun. There was no charge for the event, which also featured live music from the Ascension Lutheran Church Worship Band and family entertainment, but free-will offerings were accepted. Over $2500 was raised! The amount included a 25% match from Thrivent financial Services.
Keynote speaker, Bill Crapser, the Wyoming State Forester, addressed the issues surrounding the devastating Wyoming fires. Well known for their commitment to organizing assistance to victims of disasters, both locally and nationally, Ascension Lutheran Church members Cindy and Scott Gundy, who also belong to the International Dutch Oven Society helped lead the local Group and spearhead this fundraiser. All money raised goes directly to The Lutheran Disaster Response Fund designated to assist the fire victims, and the American Red Cross Wyoming and Colorado Wild Fire Victims.
For more information on the "Douse the Flames" fundraiser or to donate, please contact Ascension Lutheran Church at 307-634-6575 or email the Church. You may also visit the website. Interested parties may also donate by visiting www.facebook.com/#!/ColoradoForestFireVictims . Please read the entire news release.

Monies for the project will be held in a Mission Investment Fund account; and oversite of the fund rests with the LSS of Utah Board of Trustees. There will be room for a mission congregation (Christian) as well: Friday through Sunday. LSS of Utah ministries remain inter-faith and community-wide (see: www.lssu.org).
