ELCA U.S. STORM RELIEF EFFORTS

Midwest flood image

Help and Hope for Those Affected by U.S. Spring Storms

Severe storms have caused major damage in many parts of the United States this spring. In areas of Minnesota and North Dakota, overland flooding of farm fields and rural roads has exceeded past records. Elsewhere, particularly across the south, tornadoes and heavy rain have devastated a number of communities.

Through ELCA Disaster Response, our church is reaching out to the survivors of these devastating storms and assessing the needs-working together for as long as it takes. Your help is needed today to bring immediate relief and ongoing support to Disaster Response logocommunities affected by these disasters. Gifts designated to "U.S. Floods" or "U.S. Tornadoes" will be used in full-100 percent-to help disaster survivors clean-up, rebuild and recover. Donations given to the undesignated fund help to respond immediately and effectively where it is needed most. Because of your generous offerings of prayer and financial support, the ELCA walks alongside disaster survivors on their long road to recovery.

Metro Crisis Services logo

Suicide Prevention in

Metro Denver

As you may know, suicide is now claiming an average of 18 lives each week in Colorado. In the Denver Metro area alone, more than 12 people a day attempt to kill themselves. Fortunately, most are not completed. [Metro Crisis Line: 888-885-1222]

Metro Crisis Services, a fairly new organization, was created to do something about the problem of suicide and the large numbers of people who have mental health or substance abuse problems but can't get help. If you're unfamiliar with Metro Crisis Services, please learn about them at www.metrocrisisservices.org . Members of the organization would be happy to come talk with individuals, groups or staff, and they work with clergy, also.
