Congratulations, Rose Mary!
 Pastor Rose Mary Sanchez-Guzman, Cristo Rey, El Paso, TX, and her husband, Fernando, are new parents! After a difficult pregnancy, Rose Mary gave birth on Friday, February, 4, 2011, to Allexa Fernanda. Pictured are her sisters, Mariella Sharon and Ariella, loving their new baby sister.

Emmy Baylis, the two-year-old daughter of Pastor Carrie and Phillip Baylis, First, Colorado Springs, continues to receive treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which will require extensive chemo treatments. Carrie is posting updates online at a CaringBridge site, which is free but requires a login account. You may leave messages in the guestbook. Our prayers are with Emmy, Carrie, and Phillip. |

The treasurer and executive committee cannot finalize the 2011 financial picture until each congregation submits their intent for ministry support for the Rocky Mountain Synod (and wider church). Please complete the online form , or send an email to Cheryl Almquist. |

Rostered Leader Reports and Congregational Reports are due February 15
Please note that a free program called "Formatta Filler" is needed to complete the form. A link to download the program is located on the same link below. Each year, all rostered leaders are to complete a report to the bishop. Additionally, congregational reports are also required from each congregation. Those reports, and all ELCA forms, can be accessed at www.elca.org/forms. Look near the bottom of the left-hand column for rostered leader reports to the bishop. Complete the form, save it, and email the file to Janice. |

Colorado Springs is destination for
our 2011 Assembly, May 12-14
Online registration and additional information, such as resolution submissions and how to request a display table will be posted next week!
Deadline for receiving resolutions and requests for display tables is March 16. Assembly registration deadline is April 6.
Registration for each voting member will be $300. Cost for each room (with one or two in the room) is $100. Parking and wireless Internet in the room is free. |

Congregations, Clergy & Systems Thinking
No matter their size, shape, or "flavor," congregations are living in challenging times-times that require mature, thoughtful leadership. Many clergy have found the systems thinking introduced by Rabbi Edwin Friedman to be helpful in their shepherding of congregations. Yet it can be difficult to maintain a systems perspective in the midst of our individually-oriented society. This spring, Clergy Seminars West and PCD Counseling are offering three short seminars for congregational leaders: Refreshing Systems Thinking, Family of Origin, and AdvancedTheory/Case Studies.
