Safe Haven training is offered before and after the Theological Conference.
No registration deadline for Safe Haven Training. Safeguarding God's Children is a program which provides participants with a basic understanding of the dynamics of child sexual abuse. The 3-hour course includes information on how to respond, prevent and protect the children and youth in one's congregation and ministry. The training will be offered prior to and at the conclusion of the 2011 Theological Conference. Dates are Monday, January 24, 2011 from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. OR Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 10:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Cost is $10. Tingling Ears
Hearing God's Word in a an Age of Hypertext and the Hyper-real Join Jeremy Myers, Professor of Youth and Family Ministry at Augsburg College, for the Tingling Ears Retreat from March 20 - 21, 2011 at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp. Sessions will cover an introduction to the Bible and how we use it (or don't) with our youth; touch on the origins of scripture, its canonization, and various forms of interpretation; then dig into the narrative arc of the Old and New Testaments in order to "see" and "hear" what it might have to say to us today and explore ways to engage other with scripture so that they might begin to experience this story in their lives. 
Retreat Fee is $99 and includes all sessions, lodging, and meals. Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 with dinner at 5:00 p.m. The final session will end at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21. You may also extend your stay and join us for the Youth Directors' Retreat, March 21-23. |  Be part of an action weekend addressing legislation that will equip you to speak boldly on behalf of people-centered sustainable development and economic justice, physical safety, security and peacemaking, with a particular focus on those most impacted - women, girls and families. Worship and dialogue with hundreds of faith-based advocates at Ecumenical Advocacy Days from March 25-28, 2011. Join us as we visit Capitol Hill to advocate remedying this global injustice. Scandinavian Dinner Planned at St. Luke's Lutheran Church
The congregation of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, located at 615 North Burritt in Buffalo, invites you and the community to a Scandinavian Dinner on Sunday, February 27, 2 011. This all you can eat dinner will take place at St. Luke's from noon until 3:00 p.m. and will include dishes like lutefisk, meatballs, pork roast, lefse and many other traditional dishes. The cost is $30 for a family; $14 for adults; $8 for children age 6-13; and FREE for children under 5 years old when accompanied by a paying adult. Come out for the great food and fellowship!

North New Mexico Cluster Event
of the Rocky Mountain Synodical Women's Organization Is Set for January 29
The annual North New Mexico Cluster Event for Rocky Mountain Synodical Women's Organization (WELCA) will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Save this date for a fun time. The theme is: "Secret Service: If I'm Not Doing the Big Splashy Things, A I Still a Missionary of God?" Kristin Schultz, an ordained pastor who is on leave to raise three boys, will be the keynote speaker/leader. Please contact Judy Magelssen by email or phone (505-672-0016) for details and registration information. Fifty to seventy ladies are expected to attend. Please consider helping to host this event. Help will be needed in setting up table and chairs on the lower level on Friday, January 28. We are also seeking donations of soup, bread and desserts that need to be delivered to the church by 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29. If there is snow, well you know what we need then! At Bethlehem, Judy Magelssen will have sign-up sheets whenever coffee is available.
Annual Bishop's Luncheon Set for February 9

The annual Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Bishop's Legislative Luncheon will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Please make plans to attend and be sure to make your reservation (or a reservation for a group from your congregation!) to attend this annual gathering which will be held at 12:30 p.m. at La Fonda in Santa Fe. Rocky Mountain Synod Bishop Allan Bjornberg will speak at the luncheon and will also share a message with us during the issues briefing in the morning prior to the luncheon. The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church (1701 Arroyo Chamiso) with fellowship and an opportunity to learn more about the issues for which Lutheran Advocacy Ministry - New Mexico will be advocating throughout 2011. The cost of the luncheon is $25 per person. If you are only attending the morning issues briefing, the cost is $5. February 25-27 at Messiah Community Church, ELCA, Denver Dr. Richard F. Ward is the Fred B. Craddock Chair in Preaching and Worship at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was ordained in the United Church of Christ. He brings to the study of preaching a rich background in performance studies and practices. He is particularly interested in the arts of storytelling and oral interpretation of scripture as they inform and enrich the ministry of preaching.  St. Olaf College Concerts The Choir of St. Olaf College, a four-year liberal arts college of the ELCA, will be performing two concerts in the Denver area on their upcoming national tour. With 75 mixed voices, the St. Olaf Choir is considered one of the best college a cappella choirs in the United States. These concerts will include works for organ and choir with music spanning the 17th through 21st centuries. Faith Advocacy Day 2011 is Set for February 21
Put your faith into action! Legislators and representatives from the media will present how faith impacts their work and reporting. Hear the legislative priorities for Colorado Council of Churches, Colorado Interfaith Voices for Justice, Lutheran Advocacy Ministry - Colorado and Jubilee Ministries. Learn how to engage more members of your faith community to participate. Registration cost is $25.00 by Wednesday, February 16, 2011 (early bird) and includes lunch. The Lutheran Chorale Presents Its First Area Workshop and Concert Join us for an area Choral Workshop! The Lutheran Chorale is sponsoring what we hope to be a first annual area workshop and concert. All proceeds will go to benefit the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem. The workshop will be March 12, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood with a concert on Sunday, March 13 in the afternoon. Watch your mail for more details!
