Festival Season Get to Vermont 'Tis the season for season finales. In fact, the ceasing of this season features a
number of key series finales, like Lost and 24. But honestly, in the
grand scheme of things, does it matter? Will the world come to an end if Jack Bauer reaches his end? Do we care if the black smoke puffs its way to
the mainland? No, we don't. Because it's also FESTIVAL SEASON: that joyous, delicious,
something-to-talk-about-on-Mondays time of year when we can travel around doing
what we love best-eating and drinking.
First up is the inaugural Brattleboro Brewers Festival this
Saturday, May 22. $29 gets you in and
includes 8 beer sample tokens, a souvenir glass and the satisfaction of helping
these great causes. PLUS your ticket
includes the Friday and Saturday night Brattleboro Pub Crawl - including free
transportation between many great area bars (and hotels), with each bar
featuring a special brew for the weekend. This is not your ordinary beer sampling. Try beers from some of your favorite breweries, and many special brews
that you have NEVER tried before, including several first time beer releases
and a few brews made specially for this event. And Grafton Village Cheese will be there, sampling at our table plus at
featured pairings with a bunch of the breweries. Next could be one of your more unique summer weekend
activities: The Strolling of the Heifers June 4-6 also in Brattleboro. Spain's got bulls, but Vermont has cows, and
we celebrate them and all they do. Watch
the Heifer parade, visit the Cheese Pavilion, listen to music, and wait, there's
more. Art, entertainment, seminars, bread
baking contest, food and more food. A classic
Vermont festival and one of Vermont's Top Ten Events. Please get your tickets now for the second annual Vermont Cheesemakers Festival Sunday, July 25 at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne,
Vermont. Last year sold out well ahead
of time, and even though the ticket count has been increased this year, we
expect another sell-out. Here's the
line-up: 50 cheesemakers, 20 wineries
and breweries, 15 artisan food producers, demos, dinner, and....what? Yes, we agree. Quite possibly the perfect event.
There's more, like the Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival September 24-26 in Wilmington and West Dover. Stay tuned for more info. And tune off the television, or turn on the
DVR, and get to Vermont.
