Guest Feedback
"I returned 2 weeks ago from a 17 day South African Adventure from Johannesburg to Cape Town and what an adventure! In Kruger National Park we saw the Big 5 and our driver was thrilled to see a white rhino. Our accommodation on the tour was great and varied from the newest hotels with enormous rooms, to the Swazi beehive huts . The most fascinating were the "tuishuise" in Cradock - beautifully restored Victorian craftmen's houses, each one different; we had a tour of the seven dwellings the group occupied, each unique, fascinating and comfortable. And I must not forget the meals we had - delicious, wonderful breakfasts, enough choice at lunchtime to keep us going, hot water jug etc in all our rooms and then dinner, either a big buffet or wonderful variety to choose from; I think we all came home to go on a diet. Thank you Claire for suggesting this tour for me - the varied scenery and the animals; but there was so much more; and I now have so many memories."

| Uganda - No. 1 holiday destination for 2012
 | |
Gorilla mum and baby
|
Uganda has been voted as the No.1 holiday destination for 2012 by Lonely Planet, and we could not agree more!
Uganda is a lush green paradise, surrounded by mountains, lakes and dark forests. It is filled with friendly people, wildlife and over a thousand species of birds, 27 species are endemic. Good game viewing includes Uganda Kob, Giant Forest Hog, Forest & Cape Buffalo, as well as a healthy population of lion, leopard, elephant, and antelope. Uganda also boasts some of the largest Nile crocodiles you will ever see!

Shoebill

It is a country made up of dramatic mountains - the Ruwenzoris are permanently ice-capped - lush green hillsides, dark forests full of birds and primates, enormous lakes and rivers, dormant volcanoes, and open plains dotted with game.

Young Baboon taking a ride
|
December's desktop wallpaper features a young baboon riding 'jockey' style.
Baby baboons travel along clinging on to their mothers' undersides, supported by their mother's arm when they are newborn. After about two months, they begin to ride jockey-style on their mother's back.

Shoebill distribution
|
The Shoebill is one of the most prehistoric-looking birds to be found in Africa. A mysterious inhabitant of impenetrable marshes, this tall wading bird possesses a bluish-grey plumage, long black legs, broad wings and muscular neck. It is undeniably dominated by its fantastically unique 'shoe-like' bill, from which its common name derives. The bill is approximately 23 cm long and 10 cm broad, and ends in a sharp nail-like hook.
