Mobile Camping vs Non-mobile Tented Camps
 | |
Mobile Camping Safari |
We are often asked the question 'what is the difference between mobile camping and non-mobile camping/tenting'?
A tent is defined by the Webster dictionary as "a collapsible shelter of fabric stretched and sustained by poles and used for camping outdoors or as a temporary building." Consequently tents have often been seen as flimsy and rugged.
 | |
Tented Camp |
Associating tented camps and full-service mobile camping safaris in Africa with these rugged stereotypes is a false assumption.
The more accurate description of the difference is this: Mobile camps can be moved, non-mobile tented camps remain in one location and do not move.

Do you know ...
"It's the little things citizens do. That's what will make the difference. My little thing is planting trees". - Wangari Maathai.
 | |
Wangari Maathai (1940-2011) |
Nobel laureate winner Wangari Maathai passed away on September 25 at the age of 71. It is not often an African women gets the recognition she deserves, for what she does. So you can just imagine what Professor Wangari Maathai must have achieved in order to receive the Nobel Peace prize in 2004.
Wangari Maathai was the first environmentalist, first Kenyan and first African woman to do so. She was harassed, imprisoned and tear gassed by President Moi's government during the 1980s and 1990s, as she fought to promote conservation, women's rights and transparent government. She planted over 20 million trees in her lifetime and founded the Green Belt Movement.
May she rest in peace, and may all those she inspired continue her great work.
