Greetings!
(Thank you for subscribing to our e-newsletter! If you would like to UNSUBSCRIBE please click the Safe Unsubscribe link at the bottom of this e-newsletter.)
We have some exciting news and adventures ahead of us this month as I head to Uganda and Zimbabwe, both countries that are fast becoming, once again, popular destinations for travellers.
In Uganda, a small group and myself will be going Gorilla tracking in the jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where half the world's population of highly endangered Mountain Gorillas live. Visiting them is one of the most emotional wildlife encounters you will ever experience. This pocket of huge primeval forest in the Virunga Mountain range is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth. It has an eco-system that defines the very essence of the continent and has therefore been designated as a World Heritage Site.

In Zimbabwe, we will be visiting Hwange National Park and the Lower Zambezi National Park - two excellent game-viewing areas in Zimbabwe. As a small group, we will be travelling on an "authentic-style" safari, where we will be spending nights under canvas in private sites, in en-suite tents ... with every detail being taken care of by our friendly, professional safari staff who travel ahead of us to set up camp.
Follow us on Facebook, and keep an eye out for photos of our adventures in our next newsletter!
Yours in African Safari

Namibia - Top 10 holiday destination, as voted by National Geographic
National Geographic recently released their top 20 holiday destinations for 2011. As you can imagine the competition was fierce and the finalists were handpicked by their very own well-travelled and talented National Geographic editors! | | Spitzkoppe, Namibia |
Number 10 on their list was none other than Namibia. We are somewhat biased and think this should have been higher on the list, but with Namibia being the only place in Southern Africa and East Africa making it on the list - we can't help but feel very proud! In this article National Geographic raved about the amazing wildlife found in the Etosha National Park (click here to read more) with which we agree 100%. The wildlife is truly amazing, from hundreds of flamingos to lions, zebras, herds of elephants and plenty of other species - Etosha has it all! So why not take National Geographic's advice and spend some time at Etosha National Park? Contact us now about a safari to Namibia!

Do you know ...
 | | Lions drinking at waterhole |
Hwange is Zimbabwe's largest national park, accounting for an area of 14,651km2. Formerly occupied by the San bushmen, the Nhanzwa, and latterly the royal hunting ground for Matabele king, Mzilikazi, the area was finally gazetted for wildlife conservation in 1928. The wildlife did not escape the attentions of the white hunters who also had their opportunity to bag a few trophies in the late 1800s and early 1900s before the park came into being. Hwange is quite different now.
 | | Game-viewing |
A haven for over 100 mammal and 400 bird species, the park protects populations of all of Zimbabwe's endangered species, elephants numbering in excess of 20,000 (up from around 4,000 when the park was proclaimed), and what is thought to be one of the largest populations of African wild dog left in the world. Large prides of lion and buffalo are frequently seen here and you have a good chance of spotting leopard and rhino in addition to cheetah and spotted hyena. The wild and woolly brown hyena also occurs here and is something of a rarity. | | Underground hide at a waterhole - Hwange National Park |
