Book Fair Week & Weekend!
We've had so much fun this week providing the books for the Nantucket Elementary School Book Fair. Today is the last day, so stop in if you can by 3:30, but if you can't, we have good news! We will extend the Fair at Bookworks all weekend, with 20% of the sales of all children's & YA books going to support Nantucket Public Schools.
Many many thanks to everyone at the school, especially NES Librarian Laura Coburn, for getting us involved. Many many thanks also to Friends of Nantucket Public School volunteers, especially Pam Goddard, for handling the sales side. It was a great team effort and I look forward to finding many more ways to work together to get books into kids' hands and expanding these sorts of events throughout the community.
What a treat to be in the presence of throngs of children excited about books and reading. It was absolutely envigorating to feel like a 4th grader again by talking about how much I loved books like The Westing Game, Nightbirds on Nantucket, and everything by Blue Balliett.
 Additionally, I love the fact that the library is named after former librarian Eleanor Jones, one of our very favorite long time customers, who is now in her 90's and still loves good children's literature and gives me hot tips on what to stock. Thank you so much Eleanor for all the great information and your amazing patronage over the years.
