spooky nights & cozy reading

Who's ready for a little escapism?!? We are, and we've got you covered. The store is packed with eclectic costume hats, bleeding candles, Ouija boards, sticky eyeballs, and Edward Gorey galore. All that action is tucked in the nooks and crannies between the stacks of excellent books that keep arriving daily. (This is the most FABULOUS FALL LIST in YEARS! More on that in a follow-up email coming soon.)

If you're on island, be sure to pop in to see us on Halloween for spooky supplies and for leisurely reading after the festivities, and round up all the children in your life and stop by Bookworks tomorrow night - we absolutely  love seeing all the kiddos. We'll have the usual fun goodies and Be-decked Bookworkers, and we'll be breaking out our brand-new fog-filled bubble machine... good times!
Her Fearful Symmetry
Her Fearful SymmetryAudrey Niffenegger had amazing success with Time Traveller's Wife, so her new novel had a tough act to follow.  I'm happy to report that Cristina Blank, Bookworks' own literary fiction critic extraordinaire, absolutely loved it.

"You will not only read this book," she exudes passionately, "You will see it and you will feel it."

I'm starting it tonight because with a cover like that, it just screams to be read on Halloween Eve...

Wild Things Make Our Hearts Sing.

To help get in a monstery spirit, you might want to brush up on all things wild. The "Where the Wild Things Are" movie is out & playing this weekend at the Starlight. Click here for the schedule.

We've got the fur-covered Dave Eggers book in stock now--as well as the classic children's book. Can't wait to check out the new version of the movie.

Wild Things
New John Irving: Last Night in Twisted River

If you're an Irving fan you'll be happy to know that his latest is getting good reviews  and includes many of his trademark literary devices. Put it on your holiday list!

SCARY HOURS!
We're still open late 7 days a week, even in this frightful economy. Why? Because we like it! (And we hope you do too.)
Here's hoping you're enjoying fall wherever you are, and that you're able to enjoy the kind of small town Halloween fun we're lucky to have here on the island.

Thank you so much for reading our books and emails.
