Beyond Partisan Politics?
|
|
Clearly issues should not fall along strictly partisan
lines, and a good bookstore brings a variety of views
to its community.
The tax system in our country is
grossly
complicated
and we all would like to see a change for the better--
Republicans, Democrats, and Others alike. I'm looking
forward to reading the book and imagining better
ways we might structure our country.
Author Bio: Steve Forbes, author
of Flat
Tax
Revolution and The
New Birth of Freedom, is president and chief
executive officer of Forbes and editor-in-chief of
Forbes magazine. In both 1996 and 2000, Forbes
campaigned for the Republican nomination for the
presidency. Key to his platform were a flat tax,
medical savings accounts, a new Social Security
system for working Americans, school choice, term
limits, and a strong national defense. Forbes
continues to promote this agenda. He lives with his
wife and family in New Jersey.

We're thrilled to welcome a very well-known
figure to
Nantucket and to Bookworks, and to be among the
first stores in the country to sell his brand new
book.

When Steve Forbes' publisher contacted us I
was immediately intrigued. His book is called
Flat Tax
Revolution: Using a Postcard to Abolish the
IRS. The idea is one that most
everyone
I have spoken with seems to think has a good deal of
merit, and the book should provoke stimulating
discussion. He
will be visiting Nantucket this
week and wants to promote the book while he's on
island. (Location, location!)
From the Publisher:
In Flat Tax Revolution you'll learn:
- How a simple 17 percent flat tax will save you
time, money, and worry
- Why the Flat Tax will virtually eliminate the IRS,
its bureaucrats, its paperwork, its nightmares, and its
hassles
- Why the Flat Tax wil create jobs and bring back
ones we've lost overseas
- How other countries are already reaping the
benefits of a flat tax system
- How the flat tax will stop special interests getting
tax breaks at your expense
- How the Flat Tax will eliminate shady accounting
in business (something that our current tax system
encourages)
- Why the Forbes Flat Tax is also a tax cut
- What you can do to make the Flat Tax a
reality
As Steve Forbes shows, the Flat Tax shouldn’t
be a
partisan issue—it should be a taxpayer issue. And
you can make it happen.

This is the fine print text which I usually forget
about, but this time I'll use the space to assure you
that the recent volume of email from Bookworks is a
rare occurence--symptomatic of the hectic pace of
August on Nantucket!
