Sunny Side of Life | Exercises for People over 50
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

From the desk of Bob:
In my spare (free) time this last week I have been making syrup from our cherries, mullberries, and apricots we have been picking off of our trees. What a sticky but sweet and fun thing to do. This is the first time I have ever tried my hand at making syrup for my pancakes or french toast. It has all been quite yummy.
Allow me to encourage you to try something that you have never done before. Take a risk, Try something new. Failure is OK.
Oh yes, a special "thank you' to my dear wife who took over the development of MMM last week for me while I was a OUT OF IT and could not type due to the fact that I hurt my hand pretty bad and also I am so glad she slipped in her article on Freedom. We had some great feedback on that article by the way.
Have a wonderful week,
Bob

SEEDS of SUCCESS by Bob Prentice

The world CAN look brighter!
Grumbling and complaining is a bad habit that is very
difficult to break. I know. I have personally struggled with it. It is so easy to find fault and to tear down. It takes work to
see the good and focus on what is right and well.
I must admit, I've
really been struggling with this lately. Just because I write about
this stuff and work very hard at consistently applying the principles I promote in my own life, doesn't mean I've arrived. However, I
am committed to doing better in this area, and I give you permission chastise me if you hear me
grumbling and complaining.
I don't always see things as I should
and that is when I am most apt to criticize, condemn or complain. My
vision can get pretty blurred, just like the man in this short story
that really spoke to me. Allow me to share it with you.
A businessman was highly critical of
his competitors' storefront windows. "Why, they are the dirtiest windows in town," he claimed. Fellow business people grew tired of the
man's continual criticism and nitpicking comments about the windows.
One
day over coffee, the businessman carried the subject just too far.
Before leaving, a fellow store owner suggested the man get his own
windows washed. He followed the advice, and the next day at coffee, he
exclaimed, "I can't believe it. As soon as I washed my windows, my
competitor must have cleaned his too. You should see them shine."
Isn't it amazing how when we take care
of our own issues, the whole world looks a lot clearer and brighter!
