The Passionate Pursuit of Efficiency
-Monthly Tip-
copy and paste

Everyone knows how to copy and paste, but do you do it quickly? Using the keyboard shortcut is a fast trick that saves time.  Here's how:

Highlight the text you want to copy, press and hold CTRL, and press "C", then release both keys. You have just copied the highlighted text.  Next click on the area where you would like to paste. Press and hold CTRL and press "V". Voila!

If you want to cut the text instead of copy, press the "X" key instead of the "C".

Greetings!

Balancing my work and personal life is no simple task.  I have a thriving business and a busy family.  Still, a positive work-life balance is important to me.  We all know that poor work-life balance can result in unhealthy levels of stress, unhappiness, and reduced productivity.

There are many ways to maintain the harmony in work vs life.  I keep the balance by scheduling one thing every day that I look forward to - usually a run, yoga, family activity, or a tea with one of my gal pals.  It doesn't have to take long, or be expensive, as long as I truly enjoy it.

Creating work-life balance is a continuous process, that well, requires work!  Take a hard look at your priorities to make sure you're keeping on track.

Balance is a beautiful thing!

An efficiency tip from a Reader - Thanks Christine!

Using MS Outlook program at home with the family has made our lives so much more efficient.

I have taught all members of my family (husband, 10 and 14 year olds), how to set up a calendar invite, colour coded for each member of the family, marked personal, and to invite me at my work email so that I am included on all calendar activities, doctor appointments, trips, PA Days, etc. My work calendar is insync with our home calendar, and I know what's going on all the time, including on my BlackBerry.

I have also shown them how to create contacts, and to send them to me for my contact listing at work as well. All friends emails, phone numbers, addresses, and parents names are included.

It is amazing how quickly they learned!

Turkey Day Efficiency!

thermometer
Thanksgiving is a time for sharing and spreading happiness and, err stressing about cooking.

Try using a digital thermometer with a probe that remotely displays the bird's temperature.  Program it to your goal temperature and the alarm sounds when the desired temperature is reached.  This fantastic tool will make your thanksgiving cooking a tad less stressful.  I always use mine and my turkey always turns out perfectly!  Happy thanksgiving!
