From the Dean
Jim Riggs-head shotOn Sunday, April 29 many of us heard a wonderful  recital by rising star, Katelyn Emerson.  Katelyn wrote the following to the chapter: "Dear Members of the Cleveland Chapter of the AGO, Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to play for you last Sunday. It was a great pleasure to share my love of music, especially organ music! Thank you all for your support and encouragement; we all know how hard this would be if we were alone!  Best of luck and thank you again, Katelyn Emerson." Prior to the recital I had the opportunity to speak with Katelyn's mom.  She told me how appreciative they have been of the great support shown by the AGO.  What a thrill to hear that comment!

The next opportunity to show our support for young organists is our hosting of the semi-final round of NYACOP.  Make sure to check out the NYACOP Corner elsewhere in this email.  We are still in need of a few drivers and we would welcome your presence on the day of the competition.  The Cleveland Museum of Art has done a wonderful job with their website, quarterly mailing, and banners hanging in the lobby promoting this event.  We have also learned that ClevelandClassical.com is planning to cover the day's performances.

Can we count on your support?

Thanks, Jim Riggs

An Update on NYACOP

NYACOP - the National Young Artist's Competition in Organ Performance - is just two weeks
away. Many of our members have been working this past year on housing, transportation, facilities,
and all other arrangements for the seven competitors and four National Committee members who will be our guests the week of May 21st.

We need a few additional people to drive our young performers from University Circle to practice facilities on Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you can help with one morning or afternoon on either day, please contact Barbara MacGregor at macmus@roadrunner.com.

The direct link to the Organ Marathon/NYACOP page on the Cleveland Museum of Art website is  http://goo.gl/5cFp6.  This site has all the information about the competition.
