FROM THE DEAN

The first ever Cleveland Organ Weekend sponsored by the chapter will happen October 28-30. In this weekly email, and in the coming weeks, there will be information for you, ways you can celebrate the organ in your place of worship, and ways to support this weekend. As AGO members of the Cleveland Chapter we need to talk up this weekend with our colleagues, our friends, lovers of organ music, and our congregations. The Executive Committee is doing a great deal to see that we get as much press as possible about this weekend and they have committed financially to supporting this event. We hope you will join in spreading the word! For many, the time has come to return to our routine of choir rehearsals, preparing extra music, and returning to busy schedules. Let's hold each other accountable to make sure we find time for play and relaxation. A quick text message or an email to a colleague may be all it takes to remind each other that we are only effective when we are taking care of ourselves. With that said, let's take good care of each other while having a good year on the bench! Cheers, Jim

Cleveland Organ Weekend
Dear Cleveland Chapter member,
By now you should feel the growing excitement for the Cleveland Organ Weekend from Friday, October 28 through Sunday, October 30. This is the largest programming project we have attempted since the 2003 regional convention. The event will be city-wide and include something for all ages that demonstrates our incredible instrument.
The Executive Committee is very energetic about the weekend, and they have personally committed more than $1000.00 for the project. As you can imagine, this endeavor will take funding in addition to the already raised funds. We are asking all of you to join the Executive Committee's enthusiasm by donating to this amazing event. No contribution is too large or too small and your contribution is fully tax deductible.
We would like to hear from you BY OCTOBER 1. All donors who have contributed by that time will be listed in the programs.
Please send all donations to treasurer David Powers, 2539 W Sprague Rd, Broadview Heights, 44147, made out to the Cleveland Chapter AGO, and please note Organ Weekend on the memo line.
Further information can be found on the chapter web site - or you may contact me at peg@limkemann.net or call 440-871-4495.
Peg Limkemann for the Executive Committee

9/11 10th Anniversary Commemoration
Concordia Publishing has released a work by Bernard Wayne Sanders to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The piece is a partita based on a Mendelssohn hymn from the LCMS hymnal and is available as a free PDF download from their site ( www.cph.org). Sanders was the first place winner of the composition competition for the AGO International Organ Spectacular event a few years ago. Members may find this useful. You must go through the process of checkout in order to download and print the music. Also, do you have the most current version of Adobe Acrobat reader? If not, you will need to get the latest version. Don Jackson
