In the Nick of Time!...
During our recent Radio Day celebration, I had the opportunity to meet with several individuals that tune in each Saturday morning at 11 on our campus station, WGTS 91.9 FM. One of those frequent listeners shared with me a story that truly warmed my heart. Her name is Simbo, and by her own admission, is a faithful member of our radio family. As a matter of fact, she shared with me that when 11 a.m. rolls around on Saturday morning, regardless of what is going on in her home, the family stops and listens to our broadcast, Simple Truths for Life.
But as rewarding as that was to hear, that's not the best part of what she had to share. She proceeded to tell me that when I extended the invitation to our radio family to join with the Sligo family for Radio Day, that since she had such a positive experience when she attended a year ago, she couldn't wait to be a part this year's celebration; even though she lives an hour way.
But as fate would have it, as she and her daughter were preparing to leave their home, for some strange reason, she couldn't get the garage door to close. After several failed attempts, she sought the help of a neighbor who was finally able to get the door secured. But unfortunately, by this time, it was already 11 o' clock. Because they lived such a distance away, Simbo suggested to her ten year old daughter that they abandon their plans and just wait until the next year. But even though the hour was already late, her daughter strongly encouraged her mother to forge ahead. And forge ahead they did. Arriving at Sligo around noon, just three minutes before the sermon began. I guess you could say that they arrived, "Just in the nick of time!"
Now you see why I get so excited about our outreach ministries here at Sligo, of which the radio ministry is just one. My prayer is that you will also get excited about the gospel that is being shared and that you will continue to provide financial support to our local budget. Because each time you give financially to the mission of Sligo, you continue to provide us with opportunities to positively impact the lives of those like Simbo and her daughter with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
