Audibles

sligo sanctuary
Greetings!

In the sport of football there is what is referred to as an audible. An audible is when the quarterback changes the play at the line of scrimmage that he just called previously in the huddle. He does this because he recognizes that the scenario has changed thereby making the previously called play ineffective. Now this doesn't mean that he won't use that play at sometime in the future, but for the present conditions that he is facing, it would be in his team's best interest to change it.

Audibles...

I truly believe that the reason I was impressed to depart from the message that I originally planned to share on last Sabbath, even though it was part of a series that had been in the makings for some time, was because the conditions had changed and  God decided to call an audible.  Now I have no idea what those conditions were and quite frankly I don't need to know. My part in all of this was to simply be obedient to the impression that I believe God had placed on my heart.

Now I don't want anyone to think that I'm saying that I heard God audibly speak to me or that I saw a sign flash across the sky. But what I am saying is that each of us should be able to recognize God's voice in our lives. And not only recognize it, but we should be willing to follow it as it directs our hearts, even if it means that it is going to disrupt our previously well-orchestrated plans.

Has God called an audible in your life lately?  But even more importantly, if he has, how did you respond to it? Did you carry it out to the letter or where you determined to follow your own predetermined course of action? My prayer for all of us is that when we feel the Spirit of God speaking to our hearts that we will not ignore it and continue to push full steam ahead with our own plans, but that we will be willing to listen to that still small voice if we're already at the line of scrimmage.

May God bless each of us as we prepare our hearts to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

The Tie That Does NOT Bind...

This Sabbath Pastor Tapp will share the final message in our series on the Nature of Our Nurture with a message titled, The Tie That Does NOT Bind. If the tie that binds us together is the unique fellowship that we share as believers, then what could cause this tie to unravel?

First Monday's for Women

In anticipation of Spring, our Seasons of the Soul program will feature the life and ministry of a modern-day midwife, Diedre Coutsompous.

But you don't need to be a mother to be blessed by this program. The call on every disciple's heart is that God be continually born anew in our hearts.

Come and bring a friend to experience a relaxing evening that affirms and challenges you to a deeper awareness of the sacred call to motherhood. We start with a light supper and move into our special program.
