Statement from State Chamber President
on Pension and Benefits Reform Bill
The New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce today applauds passage of the Pension and Benefits reform bill. The following are comments from State Chamber President and CEO Thomas A. Bracken:
“Employers and legislators alike recognize that difficult times require difficult decisions. The private sector has been tightening its belt and attempting to live within its means for years. With today’s action, the Legislature is doing the same. This continues the Christie administration’s and the Legislature’s collective goal of stabilizing the state’s fiscal health, which will benefit every citizen of New Jersey.
“The State Chamber has long advocated for these types of policy changes and we will continue to pursue other reform efforts to get New Jersey back on track.
“Passage of today’s bill required a commitment from both sides of the aisle. We praise the leadership, courage and commitment of Gov. Christie, Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver for charting the course toward true reform and fiscal responsibility.”
