Egenton is Named Head of Government Relations for NJ Chamber

Peppard is Promoted to Assistant Vice President

New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Lobbyist Michael Egenton was promoted last week and now serves as head of the State Chamber's government relations department. State Chamber lobbyist Mary Ellen Peppard was promoted to assistant vice president, government relations.

As senior vice president, government relations, Egenton will continue to represent the business community on legislative and regulatory matters related to the governor, state Legislature and various state agencies. His focus will be on lobbying for environmental, transportation, energy, labor, and government reform initiatives that will improve the business climate in the state.

Egenton, who has worked at the Chamber for 17 years, currently serves on several advisory councils and committees including the New Jersey Clean Air Council -- a group appointed by the governor that makes recommendations to the state on matters and programs pertaining to air pollution control.

Peppard, who has been with the State Chamber for five years, will focus on tax, state budget, economic development and health issues. Before joining the State Chamber, she worked in Congressman Frank Pallone's New Brunswick office.

Peppard received a degree in political science from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa., in 2000 and a master's degree in public affairs and politics from the Rutgers Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy in 2005.

Prior to coming to the State Chamber, Egenton worked at New Jersey Institute of Technology analyzing environmental statutes, rules and regulations that impact New Jersey businesses. Egenton also was the project director and principal author of Modern Forms of Municipal Government, a report published by the New Jersey State Commission on County and Municipal Government.

A native of Plainfield, he is a graduate of Seton Hall University and has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Kean University.
