Last Call for CEDIA

CEDIA Expo is upon us and I hope that everyone takes advantage of this very valuable venue.
CEDIA continues to provide the necessary education and certifications to make installations better. Sadly, a lousy installation has more negative impact than a good one has a positive impact. We work for the end user, and we need to exceed expectations. CEDIA provides the tools to do just that.
CEDIA has evolved to provide manufacturers catering to ESC's a platform to introduce new solutions. Eleven of the twelve manufacturers that I represent will be showing this year. In addition, the trade show portion has been reduced to three days--Thursday, September 8, Friday, September 9, and Saturday, September 10. CEDIA has also introduced an "all-you-can-eat" option for the classes.
Please call me if you want to meet at CEDIA.

CES was traditionally the prime showplace for the specialty AV channel but now caters to the High-End and Mass Market. It is the show we love to hate. (I still find myself attending.)
I see value at a much higher altitude and enjoy seeing what Microsoft and Intel are doing. They have dabbled in our space, but not in any concerted manner; if they had, they could easily own it.
I really enjoy seeing the many high-end guys, but I find the Venetian "logistics" challenging.
The South Hall now has Networked appliances with a mix of companies from China (not really understanding the US market), which is a far cry from not so many years ago where all our manufacturers showed and introduced new products.
