Greetings!
 | | Sen. Hunter |
The SBAC has drafted legislation to ensure that 10% of all state contracts go to small businesses. On Tuesday, that bill passed unanimously through the Illinois State Senate. State Senator Mattie Hunter carried the bill through the Senate. This bill, which will ensure that 10% of state procurement contracts are set-aside for small business, now moves to Governor Quinn for his signature. Senator Hunter points out that House Bill 3186 will ensure that we are using local, tax-paying businesses to rebuild and grow our economy. With approximately ten new businesses joining the SBAC each week, we will enhance our advocacy efforts and continue to negotiate discounts for our members. The introductions, breakfasts, educational forums and other events will also continue in an effort to keep raising the revenues of our members.
