Opportunities Page
The SBAC will be launching an opportunities page in the near future. This will serve as our internal "Craigslist." Members will be able to post opportunities, resumes, discounts and special events on this page.
For instance, restaurants can promote a new dish or an accounting firm can advertise special rates or services. A real estate agent can promote a new listing and retail establishments can post sales events.
Our members will receive a log-in and be able to post on this page directly. The SBAC will consistently monitor and update the page.

Republican Candidate Forum
Robert Dold | We would like to thank Robert Dold, Republican candidate for Congress in the 10th District, for engaging SBAC members at our Republican forum. Congressman Dold provided his insight on the lending crises and ways we can loosen credit for small businesses. We would also like to thank Susie Schmidt, Chairman of the Lake County Board and candidate for State Senate, for talking with us about the Illinois budget crises and its impact on small business. We appreciated her insight on municipal government and ideas about how to improve the economy. Finally, we would like to thank Dr. Arie Friedman, the Director of National Physician Outreach for the Physicians Council For Responsible Reform, which is a special project of the NRCC, for a lively discussion on health care reform and the way he believes that will impact small business. |

SBAC Blog
Last week's SBAC blog featured an article from The New York Times that focused on the Senate's approval of an amendment imposing price controls on debit transactions and processing fees. Author Binyamin Appelbaum writes "The Amendment to the Senate's sweeping financial legislation could save billions of dollars for family restaurants and dry cleaners, Wal-Mart and Amazon.com, and every other business whose customers increasingly pay with debit cards."
We also posted an article entitled A Plan To Help Small Businesses Without TARP Money. This article discusses the new legislation President Obama and several members of Congress are drafting for a new $30 billion fund that would infuse community banks with capital to lend to small business.
Finally, we posted a video where Elizabeth Warren, Chairman of the Congressional Oversight Panel on TARP, talks about the cuts made in small business lending and its impact on the economy. This is an important video for small business owners to watch and underscores the importance of small business standing together so our voices can be heard.
