Please join us at the Lincolnshire Gourmet from 6:00pm - 8:00pm this coming Thursday. Come enjoy drinks and appetizers while meeting your fellow SBAC colleagues. We expect a great crowd.

Over forty people have already confirmed they will be attending. The Lincolnshire Gourmet is an exceptional restaurant and also a member of the SBAC.

Republican Candidate Forum - May 22nd

The SBAC will be holding a candidate forum on May 22nd at our Northfield office.  We will begin at 12:15 p.m.

Robert Dold, 10th District Candidate for Congress, will be addressing the forum for 30 minutes. Afterwards, we will be holding an open forum discussion with several Republican candidates including:

-    Suzy Schmidt (31st District)
-    Lauren Turelli (58th District)

Small business owners deserve a voice in government.  However, we must show up and be heard when given the opportunity.  Please mark this date in your calendar.

We will be having a Democratic forum in June and are also planning a meet-and-greet in the City after work. Details to follow shortly.

Advocacy

First policy Meeting 1At our recent policy meeting, the SBAC members in attendance (over25) supported the drafting of a petition that would:

-    Stress that the lending crises has caused extreme hardship for small businesses and that this situation must be urgently addressed

-    Aggressively move the government to make returned TARP money available to small business owners and demand that financial institutions receiving these funds loan them to small business.

We will have language for this petition drafted by our May 22nd candidate forum.  However, feel free to contact me directly with any thoughts or suggestions on the petition.
SBAC Recent Blog Highlights

The SBAC Blog last week posted the following two articles that we feel are a must-read for small business owners. The articles covered 10 Tax Breaks For Small Businesses and Health Care Reform Tax Breaks.

We encourage  our members to give them a read.

Take care,
