Following up...
This is a followup to last week's Sneak Peek newsletter. Chris was disappointed in the quotes attributed to him in an article on Huffington Post, titled Small Farmers Struggle As Drought Kills Vegetables. When he brought to the editors' attention that the author seemed to have an agenda, they invited him to become a HuffPo blogger on the topic of farming/food/climate change. His first effort was published this week. Those of you who read these newsletters won't see too much that's new--it's what he's been saying all along--but now he has a wider audience. Feel free to comment, share, take issue, or whatever you are moved to do by Chris's post.

Notes on tomatoes. We've heard from a few of you that your slicing tomatoes have arrived overripe, bruised, or cracked. We take this very seriously and are implementing several measures to alleviate this on the harvesting, cooling, packing, and transportation end. On your end, please remove the tomatoes from their bag as soon as possible, put them on your counter (out of direct sun) and use them within a day or two. If they're seriously overripe or you otherwise want to extend their life for another day or two, put them in the fridge in a plastic container or paper bag, and use them soon. Let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes or more to regain best flavor.
