Shades of things to come

We're delighted to be offering our first carrots andsungold first of the season mid-June beets of the season this week. As the voluminous greens subside and regroup you can use this lighter box as a chance to catch up and regroup, too. It also signals the transition away from the cool-weather (was it ever, reallly?) crops to the heat-loving heart-of-summer crops to come.

Kurt snapped this picture of the first ripened sun gold tomato a few days ago to offer hope that Tomato Mountain will remain true to its name.  It will be a few weeks before we'll have these in quantity for CSA boxes, but these and other yummy tomatoes (cherries, slicers, heirlooms, hybrids, romas and more) are all in the months to come.

The eggs have arrived!

eggs in a bowlOur first shipment of fresh, organic, brown eggs has arrived from New Century Farm in Shullsburg, WI--delivered in their own biodiesel delivery truck into a corner in our HUGE new cooler. You can click here for the online store page where they can be purchased. (You'll need your password; if you don't remember or can't find it, you can always go to "Forgot Your Password" to reset it to something that works for you.)

This is the beginning of continuous weekly offering of these eggs. When we get a better sense of the demand from our customers, we will consider offering "standing orders."

We've chosen to work with New Century in large part because they are a medium-scale certified organic farm (still family-operated in every way) and can accommodate throughout the year the demand we anticipate from our CSA customers--all while giving their chickens room to roam, farm-mixed organic feed, and no antibiotics.

Remember that eggs need to be refrigerated! Please don't order them on a week when you won't be able to either receive them directly from your driver or leave out a cooler WITH an ice pack or bag of ice cubes to accept your eggs.

Thanks for your patience while we got this up and running! Please send Robin an email if you have any questions about your password or the ordering process.
