Run With Us for Special Olympics -Saturday, May 7 !
Pics from our 2010 "Lovin' LIFE" 5K Run/Walk
In May of 2010, more than a hundred runners braved the threat of thunderstorms and hail to participate in LIFE's first "Lovin' LIFE" 5K Run/Walk . "I was so impressed at the motivation of our residents and of the runners who came from Cape towns and beyond to be part of our first 5K", said Ian Saarmann, LIFE's Fitness Director. "On the morning of the 5K, when I awoke to thunder and hailstones, I was understandably concerned that we might have to postpone the event. But participants' spirits were unhindered and we thankfully got enough of a respite in the weather to carry on with the run; we then had a celebratory blast at our block party on LIFE's Mashpee 'campus' It was such an uplifting day."
On Saturday, May 7, LIFE will hold its second annual 5K. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Commercial Street, between South Cape Village and the Community Health Center in Mashpee. The route is a lovely flat Cape Cod terrain, that ends at LIFE, Inc.'s Mashpee Community on 175 Great Neck Road South. After the run, LIFE will host a block party with food, beverages and music. A display of arts and crafts created by LIFE residents will also be available for viewing in LIFE's recreation center.
Pre-registration for the 5K is $20 and $25 on the day of the event. Registration on the day of the event will occur from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Profits will benefit Cape Cod Special Olympics teams. Last year, the LIFE's "Survivors" team was the only basketball team in Massachusetts chosen to participate in the Special Olympics National Games in Nebraska. LIFE's teams include both LIFE residents and Special Olympians from the Cape community. We would like to thank our 5K sponsors: Ninety-Nine Restaurant, Dino's Sports Bar, New Balance of Mashpee, Roche Bros. and the Greenwood Homeowners' Association. Race Timing will be courtesy of Falmouth Track Club.
See additional details on our downloadable 5K registration form.
For further information please email Ian Saarmann or call him at 508-790-3600.
See you on May 7 for some great running for a special cause!

| LIFE is having a Sweet Job... |
A New Job for Tatyana at the Candy Cafe As we approach the season for bunnies, eggs and peeps of all shapes, flavors and sizes, Hyannis resident, Tatyana Neimanis will be rolling up her sleeves at her new position at Candy Cafe in the Hyannis Bell Tower Mall. Tatyana will unpack new inventory, refresh the candy bins, stock store shelves and process customer purchases. The particulars of locating a position in the workplace are many. Employer needs, and employee interest, ability, and availability must all synchronize to achieve a successful employment situation. And that formula for success varies from person to person. Tatyana, with the encouragement of the LIFE employment team, exercised self-confidence, perseverance and patience in her employment search. After the process of completing several applications and interviews, Tatyana and her new employer have found a great match! For both parties this is a sweetsuccess. Congratulations Tat!
