Room A Plays with Snow

In Room A's science lesson, students combined polymer powder and water to create a snow-like substance. After adding water, the children watched the powder grow. Polymer powder has the ability to grow 100 times its size! Each molecule of the powder grows big and fluffy giving it a snow-like appearance. Students then had the opportunity to touch and play with the substance. They compared it to the real snow we had at the Winter Wonderland Event last month. They found it was not cold; it was not wet; and they could not roll it into a snowball because it would not stick together. Nevertheless the students had fun playing with their "homemade snow."
