I pledge allegiance...Boo Grams
The FPA will be selling "Boo Grams" for students, parents and staff members to purchase for $1.00 each.  What a great way to tell your friends, teachers and staff members to have a SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN by sending them a Boo Gram and treat. The sale will be Monday, October 17th - Wednesday, October 26th from 8:00am-9:00am (during morning drop off) in the front lobby.

Candy Drive
Every year we hold the Candy Drive around Halloween and collect extra, unused Halloween candy for the servicemen and servicewomen in the military. We are asking all of our families to Support our Troops this Halloween season by donating any collected candy to our Campus for donation. "Operation Candy" as we fondly call this drive has become an annual tradition at Citron and is a wonderful opportunity to teach our students about giving and supporting others. A collection box will be in the lobby from Monday, October 24th through Thursday, November 3rd. The candy will be donated from our campus accompanied with letters written by our Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten students at our assembly on November 3rd. Thank you in advance for your donation.

Tanaka Farms
On Wednesday, October 26th JK and K students will visit the Tanaka Farms "Pumpkin Patch" in Irvine. Tanaka Farms provides an exciting environment for adults and children of all ages. There are many different events going on around the farm.

The children will enjoy the following:

* A guided wagon ride around a 30 acre real working farm
* Over 40 real farm animals at the Petting Zoo
* Finding their way around a one acre corn maze
* Learning about different fruits and vegetables growing around the farm
* Picking their very own pumpkin off the vine

The children will be departing at 9:00am and returning at 2:30pm. Students will need to bring a home lunch with disposable items. Students should wear their Husky Pup Polo or T-shirt, uniform pants, and comfortable shoes.
Permission slips must be turned in to the brown activities box in the front desk by Monday, October 24th.

Leslie Kaye

Nutrition Management sponsored a "Healthy Eating" assembly this week. Dietician, Leslie Kaye, came to the campus and taught students about eating healthy. Students learned about all kinds of vegetables including carrots, brussels sprouts, eggplants, peppers, and potatoes. Mrs. Kaye taught children the difference between American and Indian eggplants. Students learned that vegetables can grow under the ground, on top of the ground, or on a vine. Mrs. Kaye even had students try to pull brussels sprouts off an actual stalk! Your child knows they need 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. As Ms. Young says, "Eat right, feel bright."
