Collect
4 Pentecost

O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your lovingkindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

"David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with sword and spear and javelin; but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This very day the LORD will deliver you into my hand ... so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not save by sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD's and he will give you into our hand" 1 Samuel 17:45-47
Dearly Beloved in Christ,

Young David, the shepherd, unschooled in the art of war, unable to bear the weight of armor, stepped out in front of a seasoned warrior, at least twice his height, with nothing more than his faith in God's ability to fight his battle, and a shepherd's bag with a few rounded pebbles.

We each have our Goliaths to battle during our lives, situations that feel too big for us and for which we feel so ill equipped.  Take courage!  Face them in the Name of the Lord.  Give the battle over to the Lord.  He does not need the normal tools of battle, he can use whatever meagre resources you have.  All he needs is your trust in him, and that you give him the glory for what he accomplishes through you.

The same Lord who stilled the tempestuous seas on the Sea of Galilee, the same Lord who defeated the great Philistine army with a young shepherd's sling and pebble can still the seas raging around you, can fight your battle for you - will you trust him to do so?

In the Peace, Grace, and Love of our Lord,

Rev'd Sarah+

Happy 4th
Join us next Sunday after the 10:30 service for our July 4th Parish Party.  Come and see all our North American connections displayed as state flags, have wonderful fellowship and Hot Dogs, beans, slaw, and watermelon - a great 4th celebration!

The Parish Office will be closed on Wednesday, July 4
There will be no Tabitha's Treasures, Noonday Prayer or Fellowship Under The Word

Fellowship Under the Word
Our two fellowship/Bible study groups are well under way, and growing.  I have heard from so many how much they are enjoying the fellowship and the ease of conversation prompted by the study guide questions.

If you have been thinking about joining one or the other group and have hesitated for whatever reason I urge you to drop in and see for yourself.  Wednesday evenings at the Lassiter's at 7:00 pm (men and women); Thursday evenings at Sue Burley's at 7:00 pm (women).

Please note the starting time has changed from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm for the group meeting on Wednesdays at the Lassiters.  They will meet this coming Wednesday, but will not meet the following Wednesday, July 4th.  They will resume meeting on July 11th.

We had a wonderful planning meeting. These moms have so much energy and so many creative ideas! There is a great roster of speakers, crafts, and events for the year.

If you know any moms with preschoolers encourage them to come and join this group.  We will have a link on our website in the next couple of weeks where they can register.  In the meantime have anyone interested call Terri Sims in the Parish Office and she will direct them to the Mops membership person.

We are still looking for volunteers to rock, play with, read to, and help make crafts with the babies, toddlers, and older preschoolers while the MOPS moms meet.  If you would like to help with this ministry either once or twice a month please email me or call me at the Parish Office.
