Collect
Pentecost

O God, who on this day taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

I am on vacation :-)  My weekly reflection will return next Monday.

In the Peace, Grace, and Love of our Lord,

Rev'd Sarah+

Giving thanks today, Memorial Day, for all those who gave their lives in service to their country, and for those who were and are willing to do so, so that we might enjoy the freedoms we do today.

Fellowship Under the Word

Home Fellowship Groups begin first week of June

Preview on Amazon

The group in Sue Burley's house, Maitland, will begin meeting on Thursday, June 7 and will meet from 7:00-8:30 pm.  Paulette Webster will be the facilitator.  This is a women's group.

The group in Roy and Bev Lassiter's house, Winter Park, will begin meeting on Wednesday, June 6, and will meet from 6:30-8:00 pm.  Gavin Lee will facilitate the discussion.  This is a mixed group (men, women, single, married)

The groups will be following along with a wonderfully engaging study on Paul's Letter to the Romans designed for "everyone" by NT Wright.  This is a very "user-friendly" study - no prior Bible study experience needed.  These home groups are a great way to deepen our fellowship with each other, to pray for each other, and to have an easy conversation with the Apostle Paul.

Although not required, participants might find it helpful to purchase

the study guide themselves (see photo above and click on image to follow link to Amazon) or at a cost of $10 through the Church.

Another possible, although not required resource is NT Wright's translation and commentary on Romans (see image to the right, and follow link to a preview on Amazon).  If you are interested in participating in a group, and/or would like to purchase a study guide, please contact Terri Sims in the church office or by email her here

"The 5 Wishes"
Sunday, June 10th 9:15 - 10:15 am in Roberta's Hall sponsored by the Pastoral Care Commission
Donna Gray, Community Education Coordinator with Hospice of the Comforter, will give a presentation on The Five Wishes booklet. This is a  document that gives one a way to control something very important. "It is the first living will that talks about your personal, emotional and spiritual needs, as well as medical wishes. It gives one the opportunity to talk with family, friends, and doctor about how you want to be treated, if you became seriously ill. They will not have to guess what you want and/or make hard choices without knowing your wishes."
Donna will explain the importance of completing this document now, no matter what our age or state of health, and she will explain how to complete the booklet.  She will also be available to answer any questions you might have.

Basket Auction Fundraiser

Do you have a novel idea for a basket for our auction?  Join the fun: donate and bid!  We have had kid's party baskets, pampering baskets, sailing trip baskets, cooking baskets, quilting baskets ... do you have a favorite pastime you could make into a basket?  Contact Wayne Waters if you can help in the kitchen or if you have a basket to donate: phone 407-491-1957 or email here
