Collect
2 Pentecost

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

"So Abraham called that place 'The LORD will provide'"

Genesis 22:14

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

The faith of Abraham; his trust in God, his reliance on God, and his obedience to God are lifted up by Saint Paul as the model of a faithful person.  Abraham's faith endures and is deepened by delays in fulfillment of a promise given.  His faith endures and is deepened as he is tested in his obedience to God's will, even when it seems in contradiction to God's stated purpose and promise.  His trust in God is so deep-seated that he can state categorically "The Lord will provide."  In Hebrew, Yahweh Yireh or Jehovah Jireh.

Abraham's God is our God - He is our Jehovah Jireh.  He is the God who provides.  His timing is not our timing.  His thoughts are not our thoughts.  His ways are not our ways.  His mercy endures forever.  His love is steadfast.  He is good.

May we be discipled in our faith so that like Abraham we relinquish our wills to His will, our wisdom to His wisdom, in the unwavering trust that He is indeed the God who provides - our Jehovah Jireh.

In His Peace, Grace, and Love,
Rev'd Sarah+
