The Lord Heals
Elizabeth Gardner
As a child of eight years old, Jesus first touched my heart. I cannot say exactly how it happened. When Jesus came into my life, all I knew was His love and joy.
There came a time in my life, however, that I really needed inner healing. I desperately prayed for it. One happening in 1960 stands out as being pivotal. I had swelling around my neck and had gained a lot of weight. Since I was to be in my sister's wedding, my mother admonished me to get my weight down. As maid of honor, she said that I would have to wear a burlap sack and be rolled down the aisle in a wheelbarrow. Of course, my mother's humorous prediction never took place.
It was discovered that I had a large thyroid goiter. Not only did I receive the medication I needed, but I also turned my prayer life around at that time. I received the inner healing I had so longed to have. I began to place God first in my life once again as I had done in my earlier years. He honored me with His healing love. The goiter healed, and I dropped 15 pounds.
I have been honored to witness the Lord's healing many times. Once I saw His healing occur while I was employed as chief technologist in radiology at Broward Medical Hospital. I worked in the cancer treatment center under Dr. William Peck. During my time there, I treated this one dear lady - aged 75. Her
cancer was located between the breasts. One day I asked Genevieve, " Do you believe Jesus heals today as he did 2000 years ago?" She answered without hesitation, "I do." As I prepped her to receive the radiation, I told her to imagine that Jesus in His transforming power of God was entering into her tumor. Then I left the room. She completed her treatment. Six weeks later she returned for a check-up. Dr. Peck said to her, "Genevieve, God has honored you with a miracle. You are healed". She lived 15 years longer, until she slipped quietly to the Lord at age 85.
Another example was when I witnessed His healing of an animal. Bobbie, a close friend of mine, called me in tears - her precious poodle was hit by a car, resulting in the dog being blind and in a coma. I told my friend I would go over to the veterinary hospital and pray for the dog. As I began to pray... this loving dog, blind and in a coma, raised her little head to my lips. I prayed the prayer of faith, kissed her, and told her Jesus loved her. That night Bobbie called to say her dog was out of the coma and her sight had been restored. Tears of joy and praise entered my heart. I felt only the joy of the Healing Lord.
