This Week's Collect
The Eighth Sunday after the Epiphany

Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who care for us: Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

There is joy and blessedness in being permitted to witness in an age of doubt and unbelief to that precious faith committed unto us.
The Rt Rev'd H.B. Whipple, Founder of The Church of the Good Shepherd, Maitland, Florida, 1881

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing.  Matt. 6:25
Dearly Beloved in Christ,

We remember the disciples as giants of the faith - all except John were killed for their faith - but that was after the Resurrection, when their faith became unshakable, their trust unswerving.  But here at the beginning of their discipleship training Jesus calls them "you of little faith."  For Jesus there is a direct relationship between our worry meter and our faith meter - worrying about our day to day needs is indicative of a trust deficit.

If we place our trust primarily in money then that has taken the place of God - and money is much less trustworthy than God.  "Do not worry about your life ... Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"  Are you not of more value than the birds of the air?

Do you know of what value you are to God?  Not because of what you do or don't do, not because of what you say or don't say, not because of what you have or don't have - quite simply because you are his child you are of ultimate value to him.  You are beloved of God.  You are inscribed on the palms of his hands.  You are precious in his sight.  He would go to any lengths to show you just how much he loves you - and he did - he went to the cross - for you - for love of you.  You can take that love to the bank - it won't rust - it won't wear out - it will never fail - it's value will never fall - it is unchanging, unwavering, incorruptible, indissoluble - and it is eternal.

Since he loves you so much you can trust him - do not worry - he cares for you.

"Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who cares for us: Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen."  BCP

In His Peace, Grace, and Love,
Rev'd Sarah+

Confirmation/Reception/Reaffirmation Classes in preparation for the Bishop's Visitation

ConfirmationOn Saturday, March 5 at 3:00 pm we will start an 8-week series of classes in preparation for the Bishop's visitation on May 8.  These classes are open to anyone.  They are particularly designed for people who have been baptized and would like to be confirmed by the laying on of hands by the Bishop.  They are also appropriate for those who would like to be received into the Episcopal Church from a denomination in the Apostolic Succession where they have already been confirmed.  These classes are also appropriate for members of the church who have been confirmed, but have fallen away from the church for a season, or for those who feel called to make a new beginning in their spiritual life by making a public reaffirmation of their Baptismal Covenant.
Classes will be held in Roberta's Hall from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm beginning Saturday, March 5.

Diocesan Shield Diocesan Search Process

A Central Deanery Forum will be held Sunday April 3rd, 5:00 PM at All-Saints Winter Park in the Thomas Center.  This is an open forum for clergy and laity.  It is hoped that discussions at this and other deanery forums will help in the creation of our Diocesan Profile for the Search for a New Bishop. The Deans and Presidents will summarize these discussions with those in attendance and send the summaries to the Profile Committee.

For more information on the search process please go to the diocesan website: Bishop Search Central Florida Diocese

A Prayer for discernment in the call of the next bishop: Be with us and guide us, Holy Spirit, as we seek your will for the future of our diocese. Help us to discern the needs and hopes of your people in Central Florida, so that our search for a Bishop may proceed with clear vision and joyful obedience.  In the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
