There is joy and blessedness in being permitted to witness in an age of doubt and unbelief to that precious faith committed unto us.
The Rt Rev'd H.B. Whipple, Founder of The Church of the Good Shepherd, Maitland, Florida, 1881

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

He was proclaimed the Son of God, the Beloved, by the voice of the Father and the presence of the Holy Spirit.  He was proclaimed the "chosen one" in whom God's soul delights through the Prophet Isaiah.  He was proclaimed the Christos, the Messiah, the anointed one, and Lord of all by Peter.  And yet he came to the River Jordan to be baptized by John in order to "fulfill all righteousness."

The sinless man-God had no need of repentance, had no need of being cleansed in the waters of baptism, but he had come to enter fully into the creation he had created.  He came not to "lord it" over us but to identify with us, to stand with us.  So in the baptismal waters of the Jordan, at the beginning of his earthly ministry, he knit himself inextricably to us so that his righteousness would be ours who believe in him.

In His Peace, Grace, and Love,
Rev'd Sarah+

WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!
Fellowship was wonderful - food was outstanding - and the evening brought in $830.00 for the Food Bank ministry.  A huge thank you to Lillian for all her hard work in organizing the event and for all those who helped - a true team effort!

AN ANGEL TREE THANK YOU

"Dear Church of the Good Shepherd,
Mere words can't begin to express my gratitude and appreciation of the gifts you donated to help Orange County school children.  Due to your extreme generosity I was able to share your gifts with five different schools.  This year there were more requests than ever for assistance with Christmas gifts.  Because of you I was able to say "yes, we can help you."  You brought smiles to school staff who were anxious as they thought they couldn't help with requests, as well as parents and children who would not have had Christmas without assistance.  Again, I express my gratitude.  You are truly a blessing and I wish each of you a special New Year filed with precious memories and wonderful blessings!
In Christ,
Donna Covington
School Social Worker"

PLEDGE ENVELOPES

Pledge envelopes are available in the narthex of the church and chapel for all those who have filled out a pledge card for 2011.  Thank you to all those who continue to so generously support the ministries of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
A PERSONAL THANK YOU

To everyone who has lifted up our family in prayer during my mother's illness and death.  Thank you for your kind words and your love.  Thanks to Mark Ricker for his sermon on December 26th, to Fr. Thomas Buchan for taking services for me last weekend and to Pastor Dawn McDonald for being so willing to jump in as needed this weekend, and a special thank you to Wayne who as Senior Warden in the Rector's absence had to shoulder so many responsibilities and did so with such competence and grace.  I love you all so very much.  Rev'd Sarah+
