Energy Network
in Action

Traverse City Light and PowerPrimarily focused on education, the Energy Network continues to take strides toward informing and educating the community on energy issues for our region. Traverse City Light and Power has been engaged in an energy efficiency initiative and shares these results: Light and Power residential and commercial customers saved more than 2.4 million kWhrs in 2011, based on the organizations' Energy Optimization Program.

"This is almost 40% over the mandated PA 295 goal," said Jim Cooper, manager of communications and energy services for Traverse City Light and Power. "In order to achieve this, more than $150,000 in incentives was paid out to customers - demonstrating our commitment to energy optimization," he said.

The commitment with this program and others like it continues and is supported by The Grand Vision Energy Network.

In addition, during recent monthly meetings, the members of the Energy Network have begun discussions about the interest and support in locally-generated power. Stay tuned for developments and exciting ideas generated by the energy of this network.
