Grand Vision, Your Action
Live from the State Theatre and Cablecast to 5 Other Locations!

The Grand Vision will present a live, local cablecast originating from the State Theatre in Traverse City and linking to each of the Grand Vision counties. The event will showcase on-the-ground projects and activities throughout the last year. Diana Fairbanks, news anchor at TV 7&4 News, will emcee the event, which is free and open to all community members in the region.
Join us to see action from the field, produced by students from our region, the Community Growth Grant projects from 2011 and the 2012 award announcements--plus, Grand Visionary Awards, recognizing Grand Vision champions throughout the region.
This is a no cost event, which has been made possible by the support of and donations from many generous community partners, businesses, community members, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Media sponsors include: TV 7&4 News, TV 29&8, WKLT, The Fox, and YOU-FM.

Food and Farming Network in Action
A national leader in the ever-growing local food movement, Dr. Oran Hesterman, will speak at the State Theatre in Traverse City on October 6, at 6 p.m., at a free event called "Fair Food: A Recipe for Change." The evening is presented by The Michigan Land Use Institute.
Dr. Hesterman authored the highly regarded new book, Fair Food: Growing A Healthy, Sustainable Food System For All. The book provides inspiring and practical examples of how we can change not only what we eat, but also how food is grown, packaged, delivered, and sold. Fair Food explains how citizens can spur significant change in our food system, "from your kitchen to your community to your state house and the White House." Read more. |

Based on intensive research and input from thousands of citizens from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, and Wexford counties, a vision that will lead to prosperity for people throughout northwest lower Michigan was created founded on these guiding principles:
