First and foremost, our apologies for not sending out an August newsletter. We were so swamped putting things in place for our expansion this fall that it was completely missed. We promise to make up for it with this issue!
We reached a major milestone this August - having 40 babies using our service simultaneously - that's about 400 diapers per DAY being saved from our landfills and more important to us - 40 babies that were not being exposed to the toxins in disposable diapers!
Our next goal is 50 babies - and we'd like your help to accomplish this - so spread the word about our service - for every friend you refer who signs up by September 30, we'll give you a FREE week of service and we'll give them a FREE week of service!

Service Customer Reminders
If you don't fill out your tag, we don't
know how many diapers to deliver! You should have a maximum of 6 diapers & soakers left
each week. Let us know if we
need to adjust your order.
We don't want you running out of diapers! Call or email us if you are
running low...but don't leave it to the last diaper!
Our
machines are not designed to launder q-tips, bio-liners,plastic bags, toy cars or disposable diapers. Please be careful about what goes in your pail! Our lost and found is full of unclaimed covers.
We recommend that you use a laundry marker and put
your name in your covers so we can return them if they
end up mixed in with your diapers - be sure to claim your covers by September 4th as we are putting everything up
for sale in our Gently Used section after that date and donating the proceeds to charity!

Cloth Diapers at Night...yes you can!
One of the most frequent requests I receive is for help using cloth diapers at night. Talk to any cloth diapering mom and they all agree that the biggest
obstacle is how to cloth diaper at night and not wake up in a puddle of
pee or have your baby wake more frequently. Yes, it's going to take some experimentation, but that doesn't mean
you have to resort to disposable diapers. Disposable diapers leak, bulge, excrete
crystals, transfer dioxins and don't allow the skin to breathe. They are
not the "easy answer" that they appear to be. Prefolds as pocket stuffers: Prefolds are highly absorbent and are perfect for trifolding and inserting into a pocket diaper. A prefold can be wrapped around a hemp, microfiber or bamboo insert or two prefolds can be wrapped together. Check out our Bummis Organic Cotton prefolds or consider an AMP Hemp Duo Insert. The Tuck and Go pads from Monkey Doodlez are also proving popular for night time! Fitted Diapers: Fitted Diapers are a great nighttime option because of their "fit", absorbent materials, the ability to add doublers, and their
breathability. Successful nighttime fitteds usually contain hemp and/or
velour for their ability to soak up large amounts of liquid. These
fitteds allow you to lay add a doubler and still have
the soft material touching your baby's skin. Whereas pocket diapers
contain a water-proof layer of PUL (polyurethane laminate), fitted
diapers do not have this and require a cover. The lack of PUL is what
allows a fitted diaper to "breathe". To breathe means air is allowed to
circulate to baby's skin.Check out the Bamboozle for a fabulous, breathable, soft and super absorbent fitted diaper. Remember that a fitted diaper is only as good as
the cover you choose... Wool:The brightest star in the sky when it comes to having dry sheets and a happy tushee is
WOOL. Wool is very breathable, comfortable, and can absorb 30x it's
weight in moisture before feeling damp to the touch. Wool keeps you warm
in the winter and cool in the summer. Wool is also anti-bacterial
because of the properties of lanolin. Lanolin contains acidic fatty
acids that react with the basic urea to create salt and water (Urea is a
component of urine that would normally cause odors). Wool only needs to
be washed and every few weeks. It is a great idea to
put a wool soaker or wool longies over any nighttime system you choose
for that extra protection. We offer a variety of wool covers including Imse Vimse and custom made covers made locally by Milky Paws! Adding a fleece liner to any diaper for night time will help wick away moisture from your baby's tushee! Getting enough sleep at night is enough
to worry about. Don't add to it by also worrying about wet sheets and a fussy baby. You
may have to experiment with a couple of different diapers before you
find what works for your baby, but it will be well worth the effort! All of the products listed above are available as part of our Try Before You Buy Program. Contact us if you'd like to try individual items rather than the entire package! |
