Greetings!
There was definitely a "break in the Force" recently with the death of Steve Jobs.
Even though I didn't become part of the Apple corps until a year ago, when a friend convinced me I needed to swap my crashing PC for an iMac (thanks, John!), I always respected Steve's vision and passion for his work.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life," he told Stanford University seniors in his legendary commencement address in 2005. "Don't be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.''
The words are rich with new meaning after Steve's transition to the other side, and with the transformational things unfolding nationally, and around the world.
It's SO easy to be sucked into a vortex of fear as we contemplate not only our own physical and fiscal health and mortality, but the planet's. If we stop for a moment, though, we can usually get clarity about that fear being the result of someone else's belief system. There are the 2012 prophecies, of course, and the current hot topic sweeping the social media is that the real "game ender" for this particular world happens on the 28th of this month. Or maybe the 21st, depending on which sites you surf.
Bottom line -- even though there seems to be a cultural taboo about acknowledging this -- none of us gets out of here alive. Instead of getting "trapped by dogma," as Steve said, and obsessing about how much time we may or may not have, what about making a conscious choice to be joy-full, to voice what's in your heart, to make a difference daily, in some small way, that makes the world a happier, healthier, more loving place?
If you feel passionately about what's happening around you, speak your truth. If you have a vision, set it in motion. The international Harmony Globally movement offers several suggestions for initiating positive actions in your community to "be the change" of which all great leaders and prophets speak. USA Weekend has designated October 22 as the official "Make a Difference Day," and yes, there's an app for that.
Steve Jobs changed the world by refusing to be limited by it, even after he was diagnosed with a terminal disease. If anything, he pushed himself harder to bring his visions to light, in whatever amount of time he had left.
What is your vision? Your passion? Your reason for being here, now? I truly believe it all boils down to our consciousness. When we can rise above external distractions and tune in to our inner wisdom, we transcend fear - of death, or financial scarcity, or whatever belief system keeps us mired in a state of dis-ease. It's a good time to remember you're a spiritual being having a human experience. If you so choose, you're in for a magnificent ride.
To quote sage Gregg Braden, "Please -- use the gift of your life wisely."
You'll be happy you did.
Hugs,
Happy Medium Jonna Rae

*This Weekend!*
|
22 and 23, 1-6 p.m. both days, at Crystal Visions Bookstore in western North Carolina.
You are naturally psychic -- this 2-day class will give you the tools to access and refine your intuitive ability. I received the technique for teaching Practical Spirituality 101 in a deep meditation back in 1979, when I was the resident psychic at United Research Light Center in Black Mountain, NC. Since then I've guided thousands of students to tap in to, focus and learn to trust their psychic skills. It always works. Lessons include:
- Spiritual Ethics: The Power of Playing Nice
- Prayer: I Swear to God it Works
- Karma: It's Not Just a Good Idea; It's the LAW
- Health & Healing: Good Vibrations
- Past Life Awareness: Oops, I Did it Again
Register today, and find out why students call this 2-day experience "life changing" and "transformational."

Animal Communication: Whoooooooo Knew?
I encountered a huge Great Horned Owl in a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary in Big Bear, California. His shattered wing, the result of a bullet, would never allow him the freedom of release.
The stoic bird perched right at eye level, in the branch of a tree that was surrounded with a swath of chicken wire. We calmly regarded each other, his amber eyes boring into my teal ones.
"I'm so sorry you're in that cage," I thought at him.
"Who among you is not?" he retorted. I gasped and stepped back, astounded at the deep wisdom and soul truth of his reply.

PSI, Practical Spirituality Institute
Officially Launched at Wisdom Faire
Thanks to Noelle Keys, artist, author, Tarot deck creator and Force of Nature, White Horse Black Mountain, NC, a music and arts venue in Western North Carolina, hosted its first annual Holistic Wisdom Faire this past weekend. Because of the enthusiastic response so many of you gave to the new name I proposed in the last newsletter for the work I do, I debuted PSI: Practical Spirituality Institute at the Wisdom Faire, with great results. Here's the "Who-What-When-Where-Why" of PSI: PSI, the Practical Spirituality Institute, is a non-denominational organization based in the Smoky Mountains devoted to helping people raise consciousness and live in harmonious connection with all of creation; past, present and future. PSI is the happy medium between the worlds of science and spirit, bridging the potential communications gap between the two by finding common language, intent and purpose. We share ideas and information in a credible, authentic way from both scientific and spiritual perspectives, helping to merge the two. PSI has three main areas of focus: - Intuitive Development Workshops for the Spirit
- Psychic Consultations for the Mind
- Reiki Training and energy work for the Body
PSI Creator Jonna Rae Bartges, author, minister and Emmy- winning producer, has spent a lifetime balancing psychic impressions with a career as a print and broadcast journalist, then a PR executive with TV stations in Miami and Los Angeles. She also directed communications for global corporations, including Disney, Sea World and Legoland California. Knowing that humor creates a healing "safe space" for transformation, Jonna Rae calls herself the "Happy Medium," and her slogan is, "I see dead people so you don't have to!"
