| Psychic Kids
Several teenagers have contacted me recently, asking for advice in how they can get more comfortable with their intuitive ability. A few ideas:
1) Affirmation!
Get into the habit of saying the affirmation at the top of this column. It's really like putting on a psychic seat belt -- it gently puts you in a safe spot by raising your positive energy.
2) Hot Chocolate!
Hot Chocolate for the Mystical Teenage Soul by Arielle Ford is a delicious collection of true stories about real teens who have had psychic experiences. Just knowing you're not the only one is very comforting.
3) Ask me!

Sages and Scientists

Fantastic blog from author Ashley Koff on Huffington Post this week -- she attended the "Sages and Scientists: The Merging of a New Future" Symposium 2010 at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, CA. An excerpt: "(Dr. Larry) Dossey's words left me wondering: as we learn about epigenetics ('epi' means 'beyond'), do practices such as meditation, radical forgiveness, and journaling offer us the means to turn off (or not activate) genes for certain diseases and syndromes just like choosing to eat organic foods limits our exposure to toxins which can activate these same genes? "

Warm Greetings from The Smoky Mountains!
We're experiencing Earth changes of Biblical proportions right now with multiple earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, Taiwan and other nations to be determined; freak snow and ice storms in temperate regions; tsunamis; rogue waves that wash over cruise ships; mudslides; flooding, record snowfalls and solar flares. NASA scientists even say that the deadly quake that rattled Chile may have changed the planet's rotation, shortening our days and shifting the Earth's axis.
No wonder so many of us are feeling a bit out of balance lately. It's easy for us "sophisticated" societies to feel removed from our environment. What happens around the globe doesn't impact us, we think. It takes something like the recent report we're rapidly fishing the blue fin tuna to extinction to make us pay attention. Now that one makes us sit up and take notice.
The truth of the matter is, every little shift on this planet, everything any part of the Earth's population experiences, has a direct effect on all of us. We are all literally, symbolically and spiritually linked together. We intuitively know this, and our movies - the contemporary equivalent of First People's Storytellers who pass on a culture's essence - are reflecting this. In Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi felt a "break in the force" when Vader's Death Star destroyed Leia's home world of Alderaan. Now, in Avatar, Neytiri teaches Jake Sully how the Na'vi know all of Pandora exists in a sacred connection. Although these are "fantasy stories," on a higher level, we're getting the message. And just in time.
We have an opportunity to "wake up" now, and redirect our energies towards healing ourselves, and our planet. In this issue of my Happy Medium newsletter, check out what the brilliant minds at the recent Sages and Scientists conference are saying about that! We can communicate with animals, which just might make us want to stop eating them. We should realize our kids today are more spiritually tuned in than we were at their age, and help them understand and respectfully use their abilities. And we can embrace our own intuitive ability to bring us balance in body, mind and spirit.
We heal the Earth by healing ourselves first. It's a good day to begin.

Animal Communication
Wolf Whispering - Celebrating a Glorious Life
The magnificent creature in the photo above is 16-year-old Timber, beloved companion to some dear friends who invited me to do Reiki on this gentle, ancient-in-dog-years gray wolf dog. When I first arrived he immediately hobbled over to me, and pressed his huge head against mine. We instantly connected.
There's no real trick to animal communication. All we have to do is get out of our analytical minds, and send our consciousness down into our hearts. From that pure place of compassion, humility and love, our furry, feathered, scaly and finned fellow creatures can connect with us, and we can share accurate, specific information.
Timber showed me pictures of a younger, stronger version of himself, racing over moon-lit meadows and splashing through creeks. His people confirmed the images were accurate. Now, though, he had been through enough winters, and his body was ready to take its place among the stars.
When a knob of bone cancer sprouted on his front leg, his people had to make the heart-breaking but necessary decision to help him cross.
 Because Timber had a wolf dog "sister," his people wanted to immediately get another rescued wolf dog to help Sasha handle her grief. Full Moon Farms in Black Mountain, NC, a wolf dog rescue facility, had several candidates. Snow-white Juma's gentle temperament was so much like Timber's he was the obvious choice.
The owner of Full Moon Farms warned us Juma hated travel crates, and it would be nearly impossible to coax him inside one. I accompanied Whit Neblett, who helps care for the wolf dogs, to Full Moon Farms, and knelt in front of Juma's pen. I telepathically showed him pictures of where he was going. He had a reputation as a digger, so I repeatedly showed him pictures of "clean white paws on the ground." When the transportation crate was brought into Juma's pen he immediately walked in and sat down, much to the surprise of the owner of Full Moon Farms. While Timber will always be loved and missed, Juma quickly bonded with his people and Sasha. The black and white wolf dogs now delight in racing through their 5-acre wooded enclosure. It's truly a beautiful thing to see. |
