News Roundup
Some scientists are blaming a "Time Traveling Bird" -- SERIOUSLY -- for the newest reason the huge particle accelerator in Switzerland still isn't working. I can't make this stuff up, people. Ironically, TIME magazine has the story.
The 1965 Kecksburg UFO crash near Pittsburgh, PA is ranked right up there with the Roswell incident. This month, however, NASA claimed to have "no records" of any extra-terrestrial activity in that area when forced to produce that documentation in a Coalition for Freedom of Information lawsuit. Hey, there -- Happy Thanksgiving!
I just love the energy this time of year, when the entire nation's consciousness shifts into that wonderful "attitude of gratitude."
Everyone's innate intuitive ability naturally gets stronger when we enter into a prayer state, and a sincere "Thank you!" is the most heart-centered prayer there is. The more we consciously choose to be in that spiritual space, the happier and more powerful we become.
Not only are gratitude, happiness and psychic awareness closely linked -- they're all, quite literally, a choice -- a conscious decision on your part to make them the focus in your life, your relationships, your work -- the whole enchilada.
One of the ways this is manifesting is in a whole new branch of mental health, "Positive Psychology," founded by Dr. Martin Seligman at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Seligman respected how traditional psychology studied behavioral problems, but wanted to focus on "the scientific study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive." (Positive Psychology Center website)
I participated in some clinical studies Dr. Seligman and his students were doing to measure and nurture a positive, happy state of mind, and one of the exercises was so powerful I have to share it with you.
Each night, before you fall asleep, jot down three positive things that happened to you that day. Then, write down what your role was in making those things happen. This little ritual causes some major positive shifts immediately.
First of all, instead of ever thinking, "What else can go wrong?" you click into the gear of eagerly anticipating what wonderful things are going to unfold in your day. This automatically makes you happy. Since you're also noting your role in causing these marvelous things to happen, you're proactively CHOOSING to focus your intent, and your actions, on doing positive, happy things. As my environmental engineer friend Herb loves to say, "How can it get any better than this?"
Give it a try this month, and let me know how things begin to shift for you. You'll realize there are a ton of reasons in your life to be happy RIGHT NOW. As you're journaling your top three wonderful events of the day, you'll feel that surge of gratitude for your limitless opportunities. And just choosing to be in that spiritually high place of joy and thankfulness will super-charge your intuitive awareness in ways you can't begin to imagine yet.
Honestly -- just try it for a week. Pretty soon you'll know that every day is truly a day of thanksgiving.
Have a magical month!
Hugs,
"Happy Medium" Jonna Rae
I see dead people so you don't have to!

'Men Who Stare at Goats' -- A Perfect Movie for Bleating Hearts
Throughout recorded history, military strategy has always involved the concept of getting inside the mind of the enemy. "The Men Who Stare at Goats," the movie based on Jon Ronson's book of the same name, shows how the US Army literally attempted to do exactly that with the First Earth Battalion in the 1970s and 80s.
If you're expecting a slapstick George Clooney comedy you might be bummed, but a friend who's also interested in natural intuitive ability and I absolutely loved it. Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey and Ian McGregor are just brilliant. It's also a trip watching McGregor's character listening to Clooney's "Psychic Warrior" talk about "Jedi Knights." McGregor, of course, was a young Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Episodes I - III. (YES, I'm a geek!)
I kid you not -- "Men Who Stare at Goats" definitely rocks. |

The Body-Mind-Spirit Connections
for Staying Well this Winter
You are a spiritual being having a human experience.
How's that working for you??
If you're repressing your emotional and spiritual needs, I'll venture to guess you might be having some "health opportunities" that really have nothing to do with any kind of virus or cold germs. What happens is the issues we don't resolve on a spiritual, emotional or mental level have no choice but to manifest physically.
For instance, if you haven't told your boss you feel you were unfairly passed up for a promotion, or you haven't spoken up about a misunderstanding in your relationship, you've created a block in your 5th chakra -- the major energy center in your throat. That's the center allowing you to communicate clearly, and use your will in a positive, balanced manner.
When you have discord in these areas, It's very likely you're going to experience a sore throat, laryngitis or a persistent cough until you've healed that energetic imbalance.
The heart chakra corresponds with the thymus gland -- the master regulator for the immune system. Any time you have an emotional trauma, or a "broken heart," look for your immune system to crash in about two weeks. You can at least expect a nasty cold -- mucus is the physical manifestation of emotional hurt.
Here's a quick rundown of how negative emotions commonly manifest in the human body:
1) Lungs - Grief. sadness, depression, feeling detached 2) Liver - Anger, resentment, frustration, irritability, bitterness
3) Heart - Aspirations, lack of enthusiasm and vitality, depression (*The heart is connected to the thymus gland, which regulates the immune system.)
4) Kidneys - Fearful, weak willpower, insecure, aloof, isolated
5) Bowel - Guilt, low self-worth, unexpressed anger and fear, anxiety, control freak 6) Spleen - Feelings, worry, mental exhaustion Spending a few minutes a day in mindfulness, whether you meditate, take a walk in nature or just feel gratitude, can help you achieve and maintain a healthy balance in body, mind and spirit. |
