Playing power soccer is more challenging than you might imagine. One of the biggest challenges is playing the momentum of the ball.  You cannot really stop the ball as in regular soccer.  So you have to know how your actions will affect the ball and you have foresee how the actions of others will affect the ball. Then you have to be move quickly to be in the right position to make a play on the ball.
Greetings!

R.D. SaundersWhen Jim and Nancy Dornan founded the Fernando Foundation they may never have imagined the excitement that many will experience this weekend in Atlanta. Beginning Friday is the America's Cup Power Soccer Tournament in Suwanee, GA. The Dornans will be watching Eric and the mighty Atlanta Synergy play talented teams from the US and Canada. I would love for you to be there either physically or financially so power soccer can grow and give more diasabled people a better life.

Sincerely,

Fernando Foundation Sponsors Tournament.

America's CupThis Friday and Saturday from 10 AM-5:30 PM daily at the Suwanee Sports Academy is the Americas Champions Cup Power Soccer Tournament in Suwanee, GA 25 miles NE of ATL. Power (wheelchair) soccer teams from all over North America will compete in this event organized by Network of Caring's, Fernando Foundation. Check out www.fernandofoundation.org for more info.

Attending one of these events and seeing these disabled athletes compete could possibly change your life. Some of the athletes have severe muscular dystrophy, Spina bifida, or a spinal chord injury. But in spite of the athlete's disabilities, this sport has action, speed, and excitement. There are players of every age and race and almost as many girls as boys. Some players even play while on a respirator or with such severe deformities that it is amazing they can even operate their chairs...but some how they do and at a very high level.

Before the Fernando Foundation introduced them to power soccer, some did not have much of life: looking out lonely windows wishing they had the ability to play a sport. But now, seeing these kids experience the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of teamwork is so meaningful. For them, power soccer has totally changed their lives. And there is one added benefit for all who attend: very few things in life are better for our attitudes than watching those in a powerchair play power soccer!

This tournament takes 1000s of hours by the Fernando Foundation staff.  In addition the costs of transportation, supplies, referees, trophies, etc is astronomical. Your support would be greatly appreciated and it is so easy to donate. Go to the Fernando Foundation website above and click the make a donation tab. Your gift will enable us to keep giving these athletes a chance to shine. And it will help the Fernando Foundation find more lonely, disabled people and give them a team of friends and the opportunity to be an athlete. Thanks so much for caring enough to read this and we hope to see you in Suwanee this weekend!
From Dave Ruelas, Director of Operations
Dave RuelasI love power soccer and I am convinced you will too.  From the very first moment I saw my friend Eric Dornan light up when he scored a goal I have been hooked.  I was so glad to know I was helping more people like Eric have this feeling.  I would love for you to experience this feeling too by supporting the Fernando Foundation.

We will have several people watching power soccer for the first time this weekend at our event in Suwanee and I would love for you to see it too.  But whether you can come or not you make sure those who do have an unbelievable experience by giving to this great cause.  Go to our website at www.fernandofoundation.org to give and be the reason a disabled person lights up this week at the America's Cup Power Soccer Tournament.  Hope to see you soon!

Thank you from all the people at The Fernando Foundation, Network of Caring and most especially... Jim and Nancy Dornan!
