A Changed Life After Camp
The photo is a bit blurry, but it marks a milestone. Before Brian came to camp, he disliked water. |
Before Brian Ryland came to Camp Horizon this summer, he had never been away from home. His parents were understandably nervous about him attending the camp for people with disabilities. They called every day to check in, and after they became reassured, they vacationed at an oceanfront hotel by themselves for the first time in many years. After camp ended, Brian's mother Betsy said Brian had a new sense of independence and confidence. To express her gratitude, she wrote a thank you letter that said in part:
"Thank you for the wonderful care you gave to Brian! He LOVED the camp experience! You all are a special group of people. Brian definitely wants to come back next summer!"
