Greetings!

We have just learned the sad news of the passing of Bob Dills, executive director here from 2004 to 2006. Our condolences are with his family and friends.

In this month of Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the contributions of Mr. Dills and the many, many other individuals and organizations that, since 1963, have made this Museum what it is today.

Please plan to visit us over the upcoming holidays. The Virginia Museum of Transportation is a great place to share family stories of travel in days past "over the river and through the woods," and to build new family memories together.

Sincerely,Virginia Museum of Transportation
Beverly T. Fitzpatrick, Jr.

Baldwin diesel locomotivesNew Exhibit! Ever see an Earl?

Neither had we! This rare pick-up truck can now be seen (in its entirety) in the Advance Auto Parts Auto Gallery, thanks to Ken Hogan of Roanoke. His grandfather purchased the vehicle in Roanoke for $1,184. It is a 1922 model Delivery Screen, one of only approximately 2,000 vehicles built by Clarence A. Earl in 1921-23 in Jackson, MI.

The truck's bed originally had a roof and was enclosed with theft-proof steel netting. It was later converted to a pick-up truck, and played an essential role in the family's lumber operations during the Depression.
You are cordially invited to the very special announcement of the creation of a
