Greetings!
Christmas is a time of joy, and I wish you the very best of the season. Stop in to the studio and share some cookies and enjoy the scents and music of the holiday. If you should make a purchase, I'll include a note card of one of my snowmen as a gift for you.
All around, the holidays are a special time with family, friends, food, gifts, carols, and magical decorations. This year many are having a difficult time. It doesn't take a lot to make a difference in someone's life. Watch this short video to see!
Speaking of the difficult economy, I'm happy to work out a no-interest lay-away plan for your new painting. A handful of clients right now are using this method to pay for a painting they're proud to own.
Merry Christmas to you! And whatever holiday you may be celebrating, may your holidays bring you much joy.
Best wishes for a New Year filled with good health and happiness! |

Everglades
From December to May, Everglades skies grow quiet as the wet season gives way to the dry. There's less threat of rain, the water retreats, and the lush greens of summer turn to gold and then greys and purples as the grasses dry.
Humans, looking for relief from the frigid northern winters, follow paths centuries old and migrate south to a more temperate climate. Little thought is given to the environment they invade.
Fish, frogs, and other creatures of the Everglades go into survival mode and seek out areas that will retain enough mositure to keep them alive until the life-sustaing rains begin again.
The above words are from my book, Embracing the Everglades, where I discuss the seasons of the glades along with paintings to illustrate. Stop into the shop to pick up a copy for yourself, or order online here. |
Collector 's Corner
YOU are special! People who buy original art are a special breed. They know that originals are special and unique.
While "something" for the walls can be purchased in many big box stores, meeting the artist, discussing your special requirements, and choosing the perfect piece to complement your life and your home is something that will be remembered and enjoyed for years to come.
You will own something one of a kind, and truly unique. It will say "quality" to the friends and family who visit your home.
Box store paintings may fade over time, and be easily disposed of when your decor changes. After a while you don't even see them on the wall.
An original artwork usually holds it's value, both in the cost you pay and in the joy it gives you over the years.
It's such a pleasure for me when someone says "your paintings make us happy!" It completes the circle for the work I do. Thank you! |

In the Studio I love the newly painted studio and new shelves, installed last fall. It makes it much easier to display and change the work around. If you haven't seen it, please stop in when you are on the island. The Snowman Extravaganza was a lot of fun and a grand success. I've included a few samples in the newletter in case you missed it. The Snowmen were fun to paint, and I probably could have done a dozen more! I'll repeat the Snowman extravaganza next year!. I've got a few larger paintings in mind and would like to complete another multi-canvas painting in January. After my big year-end clean-up I'll get to work! |
Painting Marco
News about the Marco Island Arts Community
The Artist Colony is going strong with twelve artists in three galleries at the Esplanade. We've added a "share" component to our monthly meeting to help those who have questions about the business of being an artist. Lots of ideas fly around that will help all of us!
We're also going to host a visit from Lorenzo the Cat. He's quite a celebrity, and will have a gallery show at the Art Center on Marco following a visit to the Colony in early February.
The Marco Island Center for the Arts is slowly coming into the future. I'm excited about the quality of the gallery shows. More good stuff is planned, like the fiber show in January. Don't miss it!
Wet Paint Live, presented by the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Art Center and the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts will be held Feb. 9th. Watch for more information and save the date! |
