Uncommon Paintings, Lasting Value

Greetings!

While I love being in contact with you, it has become increasing difficult to maintain a monthly newsletter, so I'm going to write to you seasonally.  I hope you'll find that this is just the right amount to hear from me!  Those who want more are welcome to sign up for my blog, which will be in your mailbox about three times a week.

As the weather cools down and the rains abate it's a great time of year to be out and about painting or for a walk in the Glades before it's gets cold.  Maybe I'll see you along the trail!

Friends of the Fakahatchee Strand
The Fakahatchee is a wonderful place, full of soft light and verdant growth.  Animals abound, and it contains more variety of orchids than any other place on earth.

Friends of the Fakahatchee believe that the  protection and preservation of this beautiful land is possible through public awareness and participation. I donated a portion of my sales recently in support for this organization.  They would welcome your financial support and your volunteer participation if you feel like I do!
Thanks to collectors and friends who have purchased since my last newsletter.  I appreciate your support!

The art world is changing, turning, shifting in many different ways. It used to be that only a very small segment of the public purchased original art.  Now there are more self representing artists and with the availability of art on the Internet, a whole new segment of the population has easy access.

Original work can easily be purchased both at local art shows and on the Internet,  While some is quite inexpensive, some of it is quality work and some is not.  With the lack of art education and art awareness, the majority of people purchasing art have no way of knowing whether what they like is a quality piece of work, and it may not matter to them.

One way to help determine the quality of a work is to purchase from artists who consistently win prizes, belong to national juried arts organizations, have a degree or have studied with the best teaches.  These artists will have a resume to show you.  These artists are serious about their work and have produced a consistent body of work.

If the money is small, yes, chose what you like.  But if you are making a substantial investment in a piece, choose a quality work from an established artist for your long lasting enjoyment! Ask me about my credentials, and I'll be happy to show you the results of my years of working toward quality art.

In the Studio
I'm delighted that my lease will be renewed at the Artist Colony at the Esplanade on Marco Island and I'll be located in Rightside Studios for another year.  Many thanks to the Esplanade owners and management, and the Joint Venture of the Art League and MIFA.  Come and visit any Wed-Sat.

I've been asked by my friend Barbara Groenteman to do a show the new Aura Gallery on Fifth Avenue in Naples this February.  I haven't had a solo show for a while, so couldn't pass up this exciting opportunity.  I'll let you know the details once they are firmed up

Exhibition opportunities, shows, and our busy season is coming up fast.  I've got canvases and paints ready, and some new ideas and techniques to try out, and of course, look forward to showing you my best work!

News about  the Marco Island Arts Community

The Arts Advisory committee of the City has produced a brochure called "A guide to the Arts on Marco." to highlight the City's art collection, and to help visitors and residents find the art that's available within our City. The brochure can be picked up at City Hall, Chamber of Commerce, any of the Artist Colony Galleries, and in any of the commercial arts studios/gallery/shops.

This fall, we're trying something new and fun.  Rightside Studio will be hosting paint-along Palette Parties.  Each of the Rightside Gallery artists will participate in a fun evening of a social paint-along.  No talent needed, just for fun, and you'll go home with a painting created by you.  Sign up now to ensure your space!  More information here
